Marquez waiting for permission from his wife to fight Pacquiao again

marquez435By Chris Williams: Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-2, 40 KO’s) is more than ready to get in the ring with Filipino Manny Pacquiao again so that he score another knockout over him and prove that his KO win earlier this month wasn’t just from a “Lucky punch” like a lot of Pacquiao’s fans have been saying. But unless Marquez’s wife gives him permission, he’ll be retiring and won’t give Pacquiao the opportunity to try and avenge his loss.

Marquez said to the record.com.mx “I wish my wife would give the green light…and hopefully give me a chance to do another fight.”

The fourth fight with Pacquiao was supposed to have been the 39-year-old Marquez’s final fight of his career, as he had promised his wife that he would retire after the bout no matter what the outcome.

Pacquiao vs. Marquez 5 possible for September 2013

marquez45By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum reportedly is saving September date for a rematch between his fighter Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez next year, according to RingTV. Arum wants to give Pacquiao as much time as possible for him to recover from his 6th round knockout from Marquez on December 8th, and by waiting until September it could give Pacquiao enough time to recover from the knockout, if possible.

There’s no real science on a knockout like this. Some people think that if a fighter waits a long time before fighting again after a KO then he’ll be okay, but there’s no telling what can happen. Some fighters still get knocked out even when they wait a long time in between fights, so it’s something that is different for each person.

Pacquiao’s boxing license suspended for 90 days by Nevada Commission

pac3By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao won’t have the opportunity to fight in April of next year against Juan Manuel Marquez because Pacquiao has received a 90 day suspension of his boxing license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission due to him being knocked out by Marquez.

According to Philboxing.com, Pacquiao can’t spar for the next 60 days. Pacquiao’s 90 day suspension runs out on March 9th, 2013. That would make it impossible for him to get in the ring with Marquez for an April rematch.

Pacauiao lost because he’s got too many things going on in his life, says Lewkowicz

pac44By Chris Williams: Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz says he knew Manny Pacquiao was going to get knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez, and he also knew that Pacquiao would get beaten by Tim Bradley. Lewkowicz if were a betting man he’d have done quite well on Pacquiao’s last two fights because few boxing fans thought he would get knocked out by Marquez and even fewer thought he’d lose to Bradley.

Lewkowicz thinks Pacquiao has too many things distracting from the sport of boxing, and that’s why he feels he was beaten by Marquez and Bradley.

Marquez has too much power for Pacquiao now; a rematch is a bad idea

marquez564By Chris Williams: I think it’s pointless in Manny Pacquiao fighting Juan Manuel Marquez for a 5th fight. Marquez’s is simply too much for the Filipino now, and it’s only going to be even worse for him next time they fight. Marquez’s punching power and muscle strength has increased dramatically with his strength training and he’s on another level than Pacquiao right now.

We saw what Marquez’s power could do to Pacquiao with him getting knocked out cold in the 6th round, and I think the outcome will be much worse Pacquiao next time they fight.

Ariza wants Pacquiao to take a tune-up before facing Marquez in 5th fight

ariza56By Chris Williams: Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning trainer for Manny Pacquiao, wants to put Pacquiao back on his old strength regimen that he had him on in the past, and then Ariza wants Pacquiao to fight a tune-up bout before facing Juan Manuel Marquez in a 5th fight next year.

Ariza thinks one of the major reasons that Pacquiao lost to Marquez was because Marquez was the better conditioning fighter due to his strength and conditioning coach Angel Hernandez building up Marquez’s during the training camp. Marquez focused more on building strength and developing his conditioning instead of using that time for boxing training. Marquez took a lot of time out of his boxing training in order to focus on building his strength, and Ariza feels that’s why he was able to knock Pacquiao down twice in the fight and stop him.

Marquez could put Pacquiao out of his misery in 5th fight

marquez23By Chris Williams: It’s never nice to see a fighter like Manny Pacquiao get old and start to get beat. It’s kind of sad to see the once excellent Filipino fighter getting beaten by the likes of Tim Bradley and getting knocked cold by his old nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao turned 34-years-old day, and that he’s not a young fighter anymore. At his age and with the way he’s getting beaten left and right, I think it would be a wise thing for Pacquiao not to fight Marquez next year or ever again. Do they really want this fight to happen?

Marquez and Pacquiao are going in different directions. Marquez is improving still, and is even more powerful now than he ever was before, whereas Pacquiao has slowed and is getting tagged in the head more and more.

Pacquiao-Marquez 5: The Redemption

pac111By Juan dela Cruz: So much had been said about the Pac-Marquez saga, and many believed that the knock out suffered by Manny Pacquiao last December 8, 2012 at the Las Vegas, Nevada ended it all with Juan Manual Marquez having the upper hand. People thought that it was now clear, that Juan Manual Marquez was the better fighter after four fights.

I beg to disagree. Not because Pacquiao erred on that night makes Marquez better than him. Not because a fighter made a single mistake made the other fighter a lot better than his counterpart. The whole fight has to be looked upon to determine who the better fighter is.

Pacquiao may not be the same fighter when he returns to the ring

pac73By Allan Fox: Manny Pacquiao has chosen to continue his career after a terrible 6th round knockout defeat against Juan Manuel Marquez last Saturday night that left Pacquiao unconscious on the canvas for a number of minutes. Pacquiao said he’ll continue fighting, and his promoter Bob Arum recently said he won’t bother scheduling Pacquiao for any tune-up bouts to see if he can still take a punch.

Arum only wants to have Pacquiao’s brain checked out, and then let him rest up until June or as late as September before having fight Marquez again if that’s what he wants to do.
When Pacquiao does finally return to the ring his boxing fans might be sadly disappointed if he’s not the same fighter he once was before the knockout. The problem with a knockout like the type that Pacquiao suffered is that there’s a chance of both physical and mental damage from that kind of a KO.
