Golovkin wants to KO Stevens on November 2nd

golovkin544By Allan Fox: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) wants to get even with #12 WBA Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) in their fight on November 2nd for some photos that Stevens posted on his twitter page showing a coffin with the message “RIP GGG” on them. Golovkin didn’t like the photos, and he intends to destroy Stevens when they meet at the Madison Square Garden Theater, in New York, New York, USA.

Golovin said to the Koncrete Jungle “I show him real action in the ring. I want street fight. No decision, I want street fight. Put just a beating on him.”

Golovkin wants Canelo Alvarez fight

golovkin53By Dan Ambrose: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) already has his eye on who he wants to fight after he takes care of the hard hitting Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) on November 2nd at the Madison Square Garden Theater, New York, New York, USA. Provided that Golovkin makes quick work of the way too confident for his own good Stevens, Golovkin says he wants to fight the 23-year-old WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s).

Golovkin said this as quoted by Steve Kim “I want Canelo.”

The unfortunate thing is that Golovkin is in a situation where it’s probably impossible for him to get the fight against Canelo, because if the red-haired Mexican loses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. next week on September 14th, then there’s no way on earth that Golden Boy Promotions will let Canelo fight a mean slugger his own size like Golovkin coming off of a loss to Mayweather Jr.

Golovkin-Stevens: And new Middleweight champ is…

golovkin122By G Bell: A potential fight of the year bout seems to have slipped under the radar. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin vs. Curtis Stevens has the ability to be another Brandon Rios, Mike Alvarado 1, tilt. Both possess extraordinary power, and Stevens for one, has made it quite clear of his intentions on the night. His plan is to usurp the young lion Golovkin, claiming he plans on killing GGG when they meet.

Golovkin on the other hand, maybe due to his lack of English, but probably more to his demeanor, has avoided the trash talk. He’s only too happy to get back in the ring with anybody, since most of the middle weights have unashamedly been avoiding him.

Golovkin’s trainer thinks Sergio Martinez is looking for cash-out fight against Mayweather-Canelo winner

martinez43By Allan Fox: Abel Sanchez, the trainer for WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, seriously doubts that WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KO’s) will opt to fight Golovkin in September 2014 like what was mentioned recently. Sanchez feels that was just another way of saying they’re not interested in facing Golovkin by putting the fight date way into the future.

Instead, Sanchez sees the 38-year-old Martinez cashing out in a fight against Miguel Cotto, Darren Barker, Peter Quillin or the winner of the September 14th fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, and then walking away from the sport. The Mayweather-Canelo winner would likely be the ideal cash-out fight for Martinez, because it offers the biggest payday by far for Martinez.

Abel Sanchez expects Golovkin to make quick work of Curtis Stevens

golovkin433By Dan Ambrose: Middleweight contender Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) has been talking a lot recently about how he’s not afraid of WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) as the two head towards their November 2nd fight on HBO at the Madison Square Garden Theater, in New York, New York, USA.

Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez expects Stevens to keep talking right up to the point where the two fighters step foot inside the ring. However, once they start trading punches, Sanchez feels that Stevens will be very afraid once he feels Golovkin’s power.

Sanchez said to RingTV “I expect Stevens to keep talking…but I also expect that as soon as Curtis gets hit with the first jab, he’ll be more scared than [Matthew] Macklin was. I think that it’s a short night for Gennady. I think that Curtis has talked himself into a bigger money fight by posturing.”

The fight hasn’t been signed yet, but it’s expected to be shortly. Stevens, only 5’7”, packs a big punch, and he’ll be the first opponent that Golovkin has fought who has legitimate one-punch knockout power.

Gennady Golovkin vs. Curtis Stevens bout set for November 2nd

golovkin12333By Dan Ambrose: A fight between WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) and #5 WBC, #6 IBF Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) has been agreed upon for November 2nd at Madison Square Garden Theater, in New York, New York, USA, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.

Golovkin’s promoters at K2 Promotions recently made a reported offer of $300,000, but that offer was turned down by Stevens’ promoter at Main Events. It looks like K2 might have sweetened the offer to get the 5’7″ Stevens’ promoter to agree to the fight. The fight will be televised by HBO. This is a fight that they probably like because HBO seems to be focusing more on putting together fights that promise to be slugfests nowadays, and this one will definitely be a war for as long as it lasts.

What’s next for Golovkin?

golovkin53By Jose Muradas: WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) is the exception in today’s fight game. He wants to fight and will fight anyone from 154-168 lbs. He wants to remain active by fighting up to five times before the end of 2013. He announced himself to the 160lb division by disposing of Matthew Macklin (29-4,19KO’s) in three rounds.

Golovkin landed a blistering left hook to the body that HBO’s Lou Dibella said he heard from ringside. Di Bella said, ” I heard something crack”. It’s no wonder why Golovkin has not received any offers from the rest of the 160 pound division. He has his sights set on Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11KO’s)who came off a brilliant showing against Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KO’s) back in April. However, there seems to be no interest from Murray’s camp to make that fight a reality.

Golovkin’s promoter makes offer to Curtis Stevens

stevens1By Allan Fox: K2 promoter Tom Loeffler has reportedly made an offer to #6 IBF, #10 WBC, Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) to try and get him for a fight against WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) on HBO.

Loeffler said to RingTV “We’ve made an offer to Stevens but we haven’t gotten anything finalized.”

Loeffler was hoping that #1 WBA Martin Murray would say yes to the fight, but he’s still dealing with visa problems, and there’s no guarantee that he’s going to have those problems taken care of before November.

Martin Murray: I wasn’t made an offer to fight Golovkin

murray64By Scott Gilfoid: Britain’s Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11 KO’s) is saying that he hasn’t been given an offer from WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s team about a fight in November. This is news, because Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 has reportedly told RingTV that Murray doesn’t want the fight with Golovkin.

Murray says he’s going to be looking to get his visa situation taken care of so that he can travel to the U.S. That’s good news, because there’s no way on Earth that a talent like Golovkin is going to come all the way over to the UK to defend his strap against #1 WBA, #7 WBC, #8 IBF, Murray. That would so backwards if he were to do that. Why accommodate a challenger. Besides, HBO reportedly prefers that Golovkin’s next fight is staged in the U.S if they’re going to televise it.
