golovkin544By Allan Fox: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) wants to get even with #12 WBA Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) in their fight on November 2nd for some photos that Stevens posted on his twitter page showing a coffin with the message “RIP GGG” on them. Golovkin didn’t like the photos, and he intends to destroy Stevens when they meet at the Madison Square Garden Theater, in New York, New York, USA.

Golovin said to the Koncrete Jungle “I show him real action in the ring. I want street fight. No decision, I want street fight. Put just a beating on him.”

Stevens is just trying to hype their HBO televised fight, but he should be focusing more on getting ready for the fight because it’s not looking good for him in this bout. Golovkin has the better size, experience and boxing skills. The 5’7″ Stevens has a good left hook and he’s pretty dangerous if his opponents try to exchange with him. We saw that in his last fight against journeyman Saul Roman last month.

Roman tried to exchange with him and Stevens responded by knocking him out in the 1st round. With Stevens, you have to make sure that you remember to focus on your defense because if you try to flurry on him the way that Roman did then you’re going to get knocked out quickly.

Stevens had never beaten a really quality fighter before during his career, so it’s going to be interesting to see how he does against Golovkin. There’s a big difference between him and the guys that Stevens has been beating during his 9-year pro career. Stevens best wins have come against Piotr Wilczewski, Elvin Ayala and Derrick Findley. The best two guys that Stevens has fought, Andre Dirrell and Jesse Brinkley, both beat him. However, those losses took place at 168, and Stevens has looked a lot better since moving down to the 160 lb. division.
