Image: Price stops Skelton in 2nd round!By Scott Gilfoid: British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) added another easy KO to his resume tonight by stopping 45-year-old past his best Matt Skelton (28-7, 23 KO’s) in the 2nd round after knocking him to the canvas with two left hands to the body at the Aintree Equestrian Centre, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. The body shots were key from Price, who didn’t look all that great despite having such an old fighter in with him.

Skelton smothered Price in the opening round, as he stayed close to him with head first charges forward. Price did land a nice right hand to the jaw in the opening round. However, Skelton took the shot well and was able to ride out the round without any further big blows from Price.

In the 2nd round, Price hurt Skelton with a left hand and then flurried on him after Skelton backed to the ropes. Price finished the job with a nice left to the body.

It’s expected that Price will fight 41-year-old American Tony Thompson next.

Price’s promoter Frank Maloney mentioned that he hopes to set up a fight between Price and Tyson Fury next year. However, it’s highly unlikely that fight happens unless Fury gets beaten by either Kevin Johnson or one of the Klitschko brothers. Fury won’t fight Price before getting a title shot against one of the Klitschkos. Fury wants the shot at the Klitschkos and he’s going to wait until then.
