Khan needs to let go of his dream of facing Mayweather

Image: Khan needs to let go of his dream of facing MayweatherBy William Mackay: I hate to see people waste their time with silly pipe dreams that will never actually happen. For example, WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) has this big dream of facing Floyd Mayweather Jr sometime. Khan believes it so much that he’s even put time line on it, speaking about it happening as early as 12 rounds from now. Never mind the fact that Mayweather may be sent up the river due to the mounting legal headaches that he’s experiencing, Khan seems oblivious to all of this and talks as if getting a fight with Mayweather is as simple as going to the local super market and picking up a dozen eggs and quart of milk.

Maidana deserves a rematch with Khan

Image: Maidana deserves a rematch with KhanBy William Mackay: After helping in putting on one of the most exciting fights in recent years, Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KO’s) really deserves a rematch with World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) in losing a close 12 round decision on December 11th. Khan is obviously going to move on and likely fight number #4 ranked WBA contender Lamont Peterson in his next fight in April next year, but Maidana really deserves a rematch at some point in the future if Khan can somehow keep winning.

Too bad Arum and Pacquiao didn’t choose Khan as an opponent

By Jason Kim: Like a lot of boxing fans, I’m not too thrilled at Manny Pacquiao’s choice of opponent for his next fight on May 7th. I think Shane Mosley has had a great career, but when picking opponents to face Pacquiao, ideally they should at least be winning their recent fights you would think. Mosley hasn’t won a fight in ages and it doesn’t help matters that he’s approaching 40-years-old.

Haye thinks he, Froch and Khan will unify titles in 2011

Image: Haye thinks he, Froch and Khan will unify titles in 2011By Scott Gilfoid: It’s sad when fighters have hopeless pipe dreams that have basically zero chance of ever happening in this lifetime. WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is a classic case of one of those pipe dream wishing fighters with his latest dream of himself, Amir Khan and Carl Froch all unifying titles in 2011. I hate to break this to Haye, but that dream is not going to materialize into reality. My grand vision for those three is for all of them to suffer brutal knockout losses in 2011 and come back to the UK without their titles, licking their wounds and hurt feelings.

Khan denies taking performance enhancing drugs

Image: Khan denies taking performance enhancing drugsBy William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) is denying that he’s been taking performance enhancing drugs to assist him in his career. This is in response to some rumors that have been circulating around about him. In an article at the dailystar.co.uk, Khan said “It is hurtful. I am drug tested and have never tested positive because I am so clean. I don’t even drink. I would never, ever take a banned substance. I would never cheat in sport. Why would I want to cheat in sport or take drugs? I am too scared to take something like that because I train so hard and my body is so fit.”

Fighters that will lose in 2011: Haye, Khan and Froch

Image: Fighters that will lose in 2011: Haye, Khan and FrochBy Scott Gilfoid: I have bad news for British boxing fans. Some of their biggest heros, Amir Khan, Carl Froch and David Haye, are very likely going to lose in 2011 and take major beatings in the process. It’s part of boxing for a fighters to get whipped but these guys are long overdue. Khan already almost got taken apart recently in his fight with Marcos Maidana. I called it a draw and I don’t think Khan proved a thing in that fight other than he still has a glass jaw. He’ll get destroyed by Timothy Bradley or Devon Alexander. Maidana and Breidis Prescott would cremate Khan if given a rematch. They won’t get one, of course.

Prescott says he’ll always have Khan’s number

Image: Prescott says he'll always have Khan's numberBy Scott Gilfoid: It’s been two years since knockout artist Breidis Prescott (23-2, 19 KO’s) made easy work of Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s), knocking him out in 1 vicious round in 2008. Khan, 24, hasn’t shown any interested in trying to avenge his one round blow out against Prescott, and instead has called the loss a fluke and says that he would easily beat Prescott in a rematch. However, Khan is merely talking and not about to get in the ring to prove it. Prescott beat Khan like a daddy beating his child. It wasn’t even a fight.
