Khan got beat up by Maidana

Image: Khan got beat up by MaidanaBy William Mackay: Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KO’s) may have come up short on the score cards in his 12 round decision loss to WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) on December 11th, but Maidana badly beat up Khan and had him hurt and holding on in the last three rounds of the fight. Had there been more rounds or if he had hurt Khan a little earlier in the fight, I think he would have knocked Khan out.

Did Khan really prove anything in his win over Maidana?

Image: Did Khan really prove anything in his win over Maidana?By Dan Ambrose: I neither like or dislike WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s), but I am shocked that his British fans are taking his close win over Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) and suggesting that performances was enough to silence his critics and put him in the class of the top guys like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and other proven fighters. Maybe it’s me but I don’t see Khan’s win over Maidana as being something to be proud of, and if I were Khan or a fan of his, I’d have serious doubts about how far this fighter can go in the future.

Khan would have problems with Kell Brook

Image: Khan would have problems with Kell BrookBy William Mackay: Perhaps it’s for the best that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) doesn’t fight unbeaten top welterweight and fellow Brit Kell Brook (23-0, 16 KO’s). It isn’t about Brook being bigger than Khan or anything like that, because Brook is actually shorter than Khan at 5’9″ compared to the 5’10” Khan. And it isn’t because Brook is bigger than Khan in terms of weight or frame, because only a mere seven pounds separates the light welterweight division where Khan fights and the welterweight division where Brook fights.

Should Championship Fights go back to 15 rounds to prove the real Champions?

Image: Should Championship Fights go back to 15 rounds to prove the real Champions?By Allen Hmiel: Ever since Ray Mancini beat a brave Korean Duk Koo Kim to a sad death in 1982 the Boxing organizations started the process to go from 15 rounds to 12 rounds. By 1988 all Championship fights were 12 rounders. Did Championship Boxing Organizations make the correct decision? Or should all the Championship fights be 15 rounds to really determine the courage, the stamina and the hearts of a true champion? Is Boxing creating paper champions by eliminating the championship rounds 13-14 and 15. Wouldn’t a brave Maidana knocked out a weltering wobbly weak legged Amir Khan in these later rounds and rightfully captured the title belt and championship?

Is Amir Khan vastly overrated and way over-hyped??

Image: Is Amir Khan vastly overrated and way over-hyped??By Allen Hmiel: Amir Khan seemingly a golden child of boxing the English Muslim under the direction of the legendary Freddie Roach is on a collision course with destiny. Or is he? Could Amir Khan be one of the most overhyped boxers of the modern age? Ko’d violently by a very average Prescott has left the Khan doubters with enough ammo to last forever. With a suspect chin and apparently no real defense outside of his bronze face stopping repeated blows to the head Khan seems to be making a transparent reputation as a boxer with extremely fast hands good movement and absolutely no defense and a very average punch.

Khan says he would knock Prescott out in three rounds

Image: Khan says he would knock Prescott out in three roundsBy William Mackay: Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) looked anything like a fighter that belongs with a major title belt around his waist when he was reduced to a pile of spaghetti on the canvas against Breidis Prescott in a 1st round knockout loss two years ago. Khan came out fast, got staggered with a jab and dropped by a hook. Khan got to his feet, staggering badly and was finished off by Prescott in one of the quickest knockouts of the year. Khan for whatever reason never attempted to avenge that loss.

Khan likely to ignore Warren’s offer to fight Kell Brook

Breidis Prescott says Khan loses his senses when he gets hit

By William Mackay: Former Amir Khan conqueror Breidis Prescott (23-2, 19 KO’s) is waiting to see if Khan will fight him next in April nezt year in the UK. For fans who don’t remember Prescott, he was the fighter who annihilated Khan in one round with a serious of brutal hooks in their fight in September 2008. Instead of trying to avenge the defeat, Khan has steered clear of Prescott, fighting only light punchers until recently when he barely escaped with a win over knockout artist Marcos Maidana last week.
