Khan: I won’t be surprised if Senchenko beats Kell Brook

brook333By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) may not be ranked as highly as #1 IBF Kell Brook (30-0, 20 KO’s), but he still says he has no plans on fighting him until he captures a world title. Khan also thinks Brook might lose to former WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) in their fight on October 26th at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

We could see a situation where Khan ignores Brook if Khan gets past IBF welterweight champion in their proposed fight on December 7th. Khan would then bypass Brook and face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a mega fight. I doubt Khan would lose any sleep over the International Boxing Federation threatening to strip him of his newly acquired IBF title.

Khan said on his twitter “Why fight Kell brook. He pulled out the fight twice against Alexander and fought Carson jones. Lol! Kell jus pulls out of big fights. He ain’t even won a major title in 30+ fights. Kell said no to Bradley as well and his last fight was 152 and to be honest with you, I won’t be surprised if [Vyacheslav] Senchenko beats him. I will never fight Kelly Brook till she wins a world title. I’m sorry Kell, and if he wins a title. Against people like Carson you’re not going to. Please this isn’t about Kelly Brook; I mean Kell.”

I kind of agree with Khan here. What’s the point of him wasting time fighting a guy like Brook when the guy has never won a world title, and is still being spoon fed weak opposition after 9 years as a pro. Senchenko isn’t the type of fighter Brook should be fighting at this point in his career. He should be fighting the major players like Keith Thurman or at least Diego Chaves. I do not understand why Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is matching Brook against the likes of Carson Jones, Matthew Hatton, Senchenko and Hector David Saldivia while talking as if Brook is facing major players. He’s not.

Brook still has his training wheels on, and if I was Khan, I would never bother to fight Brook until he did beat someone like Keith Thurman. I mean, I can’t see that ever happening in this lifetime, because Thurman would likely destroy Brook if Hearn ever agreed to make that fight. Something tells me that Hearn will never let Brook anywhere close to a guy like Thurman. Heck, I can’t even see Hearn letting Brook fight WBA champion Adrien Broner. That’s too much of a bump up in competition from likes of Carson Jones, Matthew Hatton, Saldivia and Senchenko.
