By Eric Thomas: WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) plans on giving challenger Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) a minor beating this Saturday night en route to stopping him at some point in their fight on June 22nd, at the Barclays Center in Brookly, New York.

Malignaggi says it’ll bring him great pleasure to see Broner quitting on his stool between rounds.

Malignaggi said to Showtime “I want to dominate him and punish him and have him quit on his stool. He’s never been through what the deal is…deep water. He’s never been 12 rounds. He’s been 10 rounds once, and he struggled.”

The 10 round fight that Broner had was against Daniel Ponce De Leon in 2011 in a fight that many boxing fans felt that Broner should have lost. He was given a 10 round unanimous decision, but it was very close and could have gone either way. De Leon landed the cleaner shots and was the aggressor the entire fight.

Also on the card will be heavyweights Johnathan Banks (29-1-1, 19 KO’s) and Seth Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KO’s) facing each other in a rematch. It’s kind of a pointless rematch because Banks already destroyed Mitchell in 2 rounds last November, and it seems kind of pointless for the fight to have been made again after that outcome. However, it looks like they want to see if Mitchell can redeem himself because he was getting heavily hyped before the loss.

In another fight on the card, Sakio Bika (31-5-2, 21 KO’s) will be facing Marco Antonio Periban (20-0, 13 KO’s) unbeaten Marco Antonio Periban (20-0, 13 KO’s) in a battle for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight title. Bika is considered the favorite to win that fight. If he does, he’s going to have a number of challengers eager to face him such as James DeGale. It’s going to be tough for Bika to hold onto his title for any length of time unless he raises his game.
