By Peart Miles: Hello readers of Boxingnews24, each week I will be publishing articles focusing on the news from the boxing world from the past week and previewing the upcoming bouts scheduled for the coming Saturdays.

I would also like readers to leave their predictions (predict the winner and the round or decision) for upcoming bouts on the comments page, I shall keep a tally to see which reader has the most correct predictions over the next six weeks.

For this first edition I shall be discussing news and events from the boxing world such as the possibility of Adonis Stevenson facing Tavoris Cloud, Cleverly vs. Kovalev? Terence Crawford the next big thing? What’s next for Mickey Garcia? Is Andre Ward leaving Goossen Tutor Promotions? Who will win the clash in Brooklyn?

Mikey Garcia has options

Mikey Garcia stated after his KO victory over Juanma Lopez that he can still make 126, but Mikey you said your body just couldn’t remove those extra 2 pounds at last Fridays weigh in. Maybe your body is telling you that you are not a featherweight and you need to move up. I’ve heard people mention Mikey should skip the super featherweight division and go for the money fights at lightweight. Yeah Mikey can do that, but there’s no harm in adding to your legacy by winning another world title in another weight class. Just one fight at super featherweight against WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez should do the trick. After that Mikey Garcia can move up to lightweight as the other champions at super featherweight don’t really attract much attention of fans in the US.

Do YOU believe in Terrence Crawford?
Max Kellerman is all over the guy, Bob Arum is telling us all he would have too many answers for “Da Problem” Broner, even Nonito Donaire tweeted during Terrence Crawford’s bout with Breidis Prescott, that Crawford reminded him of a Pernell Whitaker. Okay let’s slow down a bit here. Pernell Whitaker…..Really? Yes, Terence Crawford has looked pretty good in he’s last two co-feature bouts on HBO but I can’t make the assumptions which have been made by he’s backers and stable mates just yet. Crawford has only been boxing for the last five years and has a lot to learn and there are still some glaring weaknesses in his ability in the ring. He still isn’t rated yet in the ring magazine lightweight ratings. However with improvement there is a possibility Mr Crawford can break into the P4P ratings in the near future, even a bout with Mickey Garcia looks possible but for now, let’s see what Crawford’s next move is. John Molina or Paulus Moses maybe?

Eddie Mustafa “Hypeman” Muhammad

Once a great fighter now a great hypeman, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad returned to the corner for Chad Dawson for the Stevenson bout. Once again Eddie Mustafa Muhammad hyped Dawson up so much, Dawson fought he was facing a guy with the same KO ratio as Paulie Malignaggi. two minutes later he was on the canvas. This isn’t the first time the hypeman has struck. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad came up with the idea that Chad could do hardly anything for eight rounds against Jean Pascal and then KO Pascal later in the fight, didn’t work. Eddie hyped Dawson’s chances so much against Glen Johnson in their first bout; Dawson thought it would be easier to defeat Johnson than he did against Tarver in their first bout. It was far from easy. Does anyone remember Roy Jones Jr vs. Thomas Tate? Well Tate’s trainer was Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, during the introductions, you can clearly see Eddie hyping Tate and giving Tate a false sense of OVER confidence. Tate was later knocked out.

P.S. Chad Dawson I think it would be a great idea if you decide to continue your career to make peace with Floyd Mayweather Sr and have him as your trainer as you work so much better with him.

Andre Ward wants out?

There has been news that Andre Ward has had enough with Goossen, the new “Mr HBO” believes he needs a change to become a star. Sorry Ward but HBO has given you as much air time than any other boxer has had since Roy Jones Jr and just like Roy Jones Jr, I don’t see Andre Ward becoming a PPV attraction. Maybe it’s Wards boxing style or personality but he is a great boxer with not so much great star power which is a shame as he has accomplished a lot. There are also rumors that Top Rank is where Ward is heading, well maybe Bob Arum could turn Ward into a star.

Andre Ward vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr 2014?

BROOKLYN BRAWL

Firstly the rematch between Banks and Mitchell, I’ll keep it short. Banks wins by stoppage. Sorry Mitchell but I don’t believe you have improved that much without taking a tune up bout.

Broner vs. Malignaggi, again I’ll keep it short. Adrien Broner wins by stoppage. I like Paulie Malignaggi but I can’t forget that he was stopped by Hatton and Khan and went to war with an inexperience Pablo Cesar Cano in he’s last fight. We would love to see Broner vs. Maidana next, but there could be a possibility of Andre Berto getting the Broner fight next.

Thank you for reading, please share your predictions and I shall see you guys next week.
