Broner to Rios: We can fight; you won’t touch me

broner534By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) says he’s fed up of seeing former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) trash talking about him on videos, and he says if Rios wants to fight they can fight.

Broner doesn’t see the Golden Boy-Top Rank rivalry from getting in the way of the fight being made. Broner believes he can make it happen on his end with Golden Boy. The only question is could Rios do the same thing with his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank.

Broner said to ARBeatGang: “Who is Brandon Rios. I keep seeing multiple videos of him cussing me out, calling me bi**** and s***. Wait. Quit playing that Golden Boy-Top Rank bulls*** because we can fight. All that talk about how I’m ‘too small’, you’re going to ‘knock me out.’ You won’t touch me. Easy money. I just robbed a bank.”

If Rios has been saying Broner is too small for him then he needs to look at him again because Rios, 5’8”, is only one inch taller than the 5’7” Broner, but in the reach department, Broner has a huge three inch reach advantage over Rios. In other words, Rios is the smaller fighter, not Broner.

I’d actually favor Broner over Rios in a big, big way. I see this as an easy fight for Broner just like his wins over Gavin Rees and Jason Litzau. Broner would dominate Rios if given the chance.

It’s too bad that Rios’ promoter Bob Arum controls all of his match-ups. I seriously doubt that Rios would be able to get Arum to agree to let him fight Broner even if he asked him nicely. I think Arum would tell Rios forget it if he brought it up. It’s too bad because it would be a good fight to see, and it would be an interesting match-up for boxing fans sick of seeing Rios fight Mike Alvarado over and over again.
