There had been talk that Fury’s management had offered a fight to Price, but it looks like that’s not the case because Price is saying he was never contacted to fight Fury in September.

However, even if he was given an offer, Price says he wouldn’t have taken the fight on the date that Fury wants to fight, September 17th, because Price says he would need more time to prepare for the fight. He wouldn’t take the fight on only four weeks notice he says. Price does want to fight Fury, and expects to be facing him as the mandatory challenger soon as it is.

“I will be fighting him [Fury] as mandatory challenger soon anyway and at that point I will have the proper amount of time to prepare,” Price said to liverpoolecho.co.uk. “Fury seems well up for the challenge and the one thing I’ve always said about him is that he’s got balls. I don’t think he would back down from the fight with me because he wants to save face.”

As good as Fury looked in beating Dereck Chisora recently, you would have to favor Price to beat Fury when they do meet up. Price is a much bigger puncher and Fury showed that he’s easy to hit and can be hurt in his Chisora fight. Chisora really didn’t throw a lot of punches but he had Fury looking bad when he did open up. The 6’8″ Price would be murderous against a guy as wide open as Fury. It could turn out to be a huge mismatch unless Fury improves his defensive skills by the time he faces Fury.
