Image: Broner vs. DeMarco on November 17th on HBOBy Dan Ambrose: In the latest boxing news, Dan Rafael of ESPN is reporting that the talked about fight between WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) and former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) is a done deal for November 17th in an HBO televised fight at a still to be determined venue in the United States.

This is sensational because these two fighters – DeMarco and Broner – are arguably the two best lightweights in the division right now. I know some boxing fans might think that WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns and IBF champion Miguel Vazquez deserve to have their names up there as well, but I certainly don’t.

Broner and DeMarco are clearly the best lightweights in the division from my perspective. Broner, 23, just moved up in weight to the lightweight division and has yet to fight at this weight, but by seeing how good Broner was at super featherweight I can safely say that he deserves to be right up there with DeMarco as one of the two best fighters at 135.

DeMarco’s side of the negotiations were completed last week, and the only thing holding it up was having Broner’s side ironed out with HBO. But it looks like everything is good now and the fight is set to go for November 17th.

DeMarco, 26, has beaten Jorge Linares, Miguel Roman and John Molina in his last three fights. DeMarco, a southpaw, seems to be getting better with each if that’s to believed. After he was beaten by Edwin Valero by a 9th round stoppage loss two years ago in February 2010, a lot of boxing fans gave up on DeMarco. However, he came back from that tough loss and beat Daniel Attah, Ray Sanchez following by Linares, Roman and Molina to prove that he’s the class of the division right now. It’s up to Broner to show that he’s the best guy and it’s going to be tough because of how much power that DeMarco has.
