Pacquiao-Bradley 2 brings in between 750,000 and 800,000 PPV buys, says Arum

pac777By Chris Williams: Bob Arum of Top Rank has finally come out to give a pay-per-view number for Manny Pacquiao’s rematch against WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-1, 12 KO’s) last month on April 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The numbers aren’t good in terms of the huge 1 million PPV buy fights that Pacquiao enjoyed in years gone by. Arum is saying that the Pacquaio-Bradley 2 rematch brought in between “750,000 and 800,000” PPV buys, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. There wasn’t an exact number given by Arum, and HBO hasn’t released the numbers themselves for some reason.

“We’re between 750,000 and 800,000. Sure, it’s a disappointment,” Arum said to ESPN.

Pacquiao-Bradley 2 fails to break 1 million buys

pac3222By Chris Williams: Sports Illustrated is reporting that their sources are telling them that the April 12th rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Tim Bradley brought in between 775,000 to 800,000 pay-per-view buys on HBO. There’s been a delay in the release of the official PPV numbers by HBO and Top Rank, so we’re still awaiting what they’ll be reporting. These PPV numbers are far, far below the 2.2 million PPV buys that Floyd Mayweather Jr’s last fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez brought in last September. Mayweather’s numbers were over twice as many, and that makes it even more difficult to arrange a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

The PPV numbers for the Pacquiao-Bradley 2 fight are an improvement from the 475,000 for the Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios fight last November, but the figures are below the 890,000 that the first Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight generated in 2012. The fact that Pacquiao’s numbers were below that could be from fan exhaustion at seeing one too many retread fights involving Pacquiao being matched against the same opponents. Since 2004, Pacquiao has fought Juan Manuel Marquez four times and Bradley twice. Those are six fights between the same guys.

Where Are The Pay Per View Numbers for Pacquiao vs. Bradley 2?

pac777By Don Ech: We are now two weeks out since the Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley 2 rematch and still there are no pay per view numbers out from anyone. Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions said they would be releasing the numbers already and still nothing. It seems like every time Manny fights it’s like pulling teeth just to see how well he did via pay-per view, now many will say “who cares about pay – per view numbers” and the answer is “ We Do “ the real boxing fans.

Pay-Per View buys are a tool that a fighter can use to negotiate his pay and his value to a fight at the negotiation table. Pay Per view buys lets non boxing fans know who is popular and who is not which in turns causes them to spend their hard earned money to also fuel the sport from time to time.

Pacquiao’s gate for Bradley 2 = worst in 8 fights since becoming star, says Rafael

pac8888111By Chris Williams: It looks like Bob Arum’s idea of matching Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) back up with Tim Bradley (31-1, 12 KO’s) wasn’t a good one after all, as Dan Rafael of ESPN is reporting that the gate numbers for the fight were the lowest for Pacquiao in his last 8 fights in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As far as the pay-per-view numbers go, HBO didn’t release them yet because Arum is out of the United States right now on a trip, otherwise those numbers would be out. The timing of Arum’s trip could delay what might be bad news as far as the Pacquiao-Bradley PPV numbers go.

Tim Bradley’s Defeat: Is it a spell or a strong prayer of Mommy Dionisia?

motherpacBy Alon Calinao Dy: The mother of all-time favorite boxer Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s), Aling Dionisia, has said something a curse or a prayer at the start of their most anticipating fight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last Saturday night.

This is the most trending news now in the Philippines and other boxing sites. Due to the spell, Aling Dionisia has helped Pacquiao for winning the rematch. Some boxing fans have called Pacquiao’s mom ” A crazy woman, ” others believe that she was just praying for his infamous son during the heat of the battle.

Aftermath: Pacquiao vs. Bradley II

pac948888By Jay McIntyre: Everyone thought that Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) would demolish Timothy Bradley (31-1-0, 13 KO’s) in June of 2012, and 82% of the respondents for HBO’s online voting system thought that it would happen again last night. Not one to let prevailing opinion discourage him, Bradley trained determinedly to prove – once and for all – that he was truly the better man.

There were question marks going into this fight, to be sure. Was Bradley the better boxer who paid for the sins of the judges with near universal scorn? Was Manny Pacquiao still dedicated to his craft and capable of taking a punch?

Manny Pacquiao isn’t the fighter he once was

pac07676767By Bashar Khaddage: After watching Manny Pacquiao vs. Tim Bradley 2 last Saturday night, I’ve come to a conclusion that the once pound for pound king is not the fighter he once was, and he might soon get hurt really bad in the ring. Being a hardcore Pacquiao fan myself, I’ve tried to dismiss the many claims that have circulated around him for 2 years now.

I do believe he outclassed Bradley in the first fight and you’ve got to be blind to believe he lost that fight, but simply put, there is something lacking in his performance.

He no longer possesses the aggressiveness that defined his career, he no longer has the ability to fight for 3 full minutes of every round and he seems very timid to get into an all out exchange.

Pacquiao targets Marquez or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

pac111By Alon Calinao Dy: After winning the fight against WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (31-1, 12 KO’s) in handing him his first career defeat last night, former 8 division world champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) told the boxing media that he is willing to face anyone who is going after him. The MGM Grand was filled with fans and celebrities who watched the exciting in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This time around, all the three judges were in favour of Pacquiao and they had judged the rematch fairly. I think most of the fans, are happy with the final verdict, and even Tim Bradley himself, admitted that Pacquiao was the better fighter last night. It just says one thing that the integrity of boxing has finally returned after Pacquiao was arguably robbed in his fight against Bradley in 2012, despite his obvious dominance.

Bradley and Pacquiao both lost

pac1234123By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: Tim Bradley had it all for at least two fights. He scored a very controversial win over Manny Pacquiao in their first fight and proceeded to beat Ruslan Provodnikov and hall of famer Juan Manuel Marquez. But then he came to a fork in the road. He had the WBO strap around his waist, his contract had expired with Top Rank, had a chance to become a free agent, and possibly align himself to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But he wanted to prove to the world that he really did beat Pacquiao in the first fight and couldn’t get the rematch without first signing an extension. He mulled things over and finally decided to resign stating Top Rank gave him everything he wanted.

Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Merciful or unable?

bradley3By Gerardo Granados: Last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A, the veteran “boxer” Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) clearly defeated WBO Tim Bradley (31-1, 12 KO’s) to regain the WBO welterweight strap; I concur with the two fight judges that scored it 116-112 for Manny. Although it was a good fight it can’t be possible to consider it as a candidate for fight of the year award, maybe Pacquiao’s fans considered it as spectacular but the fight simply didn’t lived up to the expectations.

The first five rounds were really good but after the sixth, Bradley was in survival mode, something had changed, according to the fight reports “Desert Storm” hurt his ankle again; if he had not injured the fight might have been closer, but that is not to blame on Manny who had a good fight plan and was able to execute, he was smart and patient to out punch and outwork Tim, who after the fifth round was just trying to land a big punch to end the fight.
