Khan: Everybody wants Mayweather-Khan now

khan45677By Scott Gilfoid: After his very close and unimpressive 12 round unanimous decision win over Chris Algieri last Friday night in New York, Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) figures there is a ton of interest in a fight between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) now.

Khan says the hype for the Khan-Mayweather fight is now huge, and that everywhere he goes, he’s bombarded with questions from fans who want to know “when are you going to fight Mayweather.” I personally don’t see much of any interest at all with fans wanting to see Mayweather vs. Khan, but I’m only dealing with the dedicated fans of the sport.

Khan will give Mayweather nightmares, says Nelson

khan677By Scott Gilfoid: Sky commentator Johnny Nelson doesn’t think Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) will get the fight against unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) this September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nelson believes that Mayweather will see Khan as too much of a threat to him due to his hand speed and mobility.

It doesn’t matter to Nelson that Khan looked horrible in his last fight against Chris Algieri, and how Khan hasn’t faced a puncher since being starched in 4 rounds by Danny Garcia in 2012.

Khan: Mayweather fight could be confirmed within 2 weeks

khan611111(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Scott Gilfoid: After chasing a fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) for the past four years, Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) could be on the verge of finally getting his dream of a golden parachute fight against the American star in September.

Khan, 28, revealed on Tuesday that he believes a fight between him and Mayweather will be confirmed within the next two weeks. Khan feels very confident the fight against the 38-year-old star will finally be taking place. It’s unclear what leads Khan to believe this, but it must be something his adviser told him because he wouldn’t be talking this way if he wasn’t given hope.

Khan believes that the way he fought against Chris Algieri last Friday, which was arguably dreadful, has helped improve his chances of getting the Mayweather fight.

Hunter: Khan would have to fight on another level to have chance of beating Mayweather

khan999999666(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Scott Gilfoid: Three days after struggling to beat Chris Algieri by a close decision, Amir Khan is waiting and hoping to get a call from Floyd Mayweather Jr. letting him know that he’s been selected for his next fight in September. Thus far, Khan hasn’t reported getting that call from Mayweather and all he can do is hope that he somehow gets lucky and is given that call.

In the meantime, Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter, who may be on his way out, says that Khan would need to fight way over his head for him to have a chance of beating a talented fighter like Mayweather.

Does Khan have a chance against Mayweather?

EW5G6706By Dan Ambrose: Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) may not have looked too good in beating Chris Algieri last Friday night in winning a tougher than expected 12 round unanimous decision, but he did his job and kept his career on the right tracks to move forward to whatever the future will bring him.

Khan, 28, is hoping that the fight he gets next is against superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. next September on the Mexican Independence Day holiday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather almost has to face Khan if he wants to fend off the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fight from taking his date in September.

Khan: I really think the Mayweather fight can happen

khan5899By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) thinks he has a better than 50 percent chance of getting picked out by American superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) for his next fight in September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan believes that his adviser Al Haymon will be able to get the fight against the 38-year-old Mayweather, although Khan still would have to get past his May 29th opponent Chris Algieri for the Mayweather fight to get place.

Khan saying he’ll be available for Mayweather in September

khan67By Scott Gilfoid: After saying that he wouldn’t be able to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) this September due to Ramadan, Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) has reversed course and is now saying that he thinks he might be able to take the fight against Mayweather in September after all.

Mayweather just finished his May fight against Manny Pacquiao, and he’s now looking at selecting opponent for his September fight. Mayweather doesn’t have a lot of time to rest after his victory before he needs to make his selection and start training for the fight.

Mayweather: I want to put Khan on his backside

floyd10By Chris Williams: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) is well aware that his father/trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr wants to see him give #1 WBC, #3 WBA, #6 WBO Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) a beating next May when Mayweather fights again.

If Mayweather does choose Khan as his next opponent, he feels that he’s going to give Khan a beating and leave him on the canvas. Mayweather views himself as being too smart for Khan, and he sees him as a guy that won’t be able to stay in there with him once the going gets tough.

Khan thinks he’ll still get Mayweather fight no matter who his next opponent is in December

khan1111By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) believes that it really doesn’t matter who his next opponent is for his December 6th fight. He still thinks he’ll get the Mayweather fight next year regardless of who his adviser Al Haymon and his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions pick out for him to fight in December.

Khan has mentioned over and over again that his management have three opponents – Robert Guerrero, Devon Alexander and Josesito Lopez – that they’re looking at for his next fight. The guy that is repeatedly mentioned as the fighter that they want Khan to fight is Josesito Lopez, a fighter who has lost 3 out of his last 7 fights.

“Whoever it is in December, I think it’s still going to lead to a fight with Floyd because there’s so much talk about it. Plus, I think Floyd needs somebody to get them [pay-per-view] numbers high,” Khan said to Fighthype.com.
