Terence Crawford faces Thomas Dulorme on April 18th for vacant WBO 140lb title

crawford3By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Organization is giving WBO lightweight champ Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) a huge gift in letting him fight the badly flawed #3 WBC, #5 WBO Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KOs) on April; 18th for the vacant WBO light welterweight title at the University of Texas at Arlington’s College Park Center outside Dallas, Texas.

It’s a huge gift, because Crawford should have to face Lucas Matthysse or Ruslan Provodnikov for the vacant WBO title, not Dulorme. You can make an argument that the Matthysse-Provodnikov fight should be for the vacant WBO 140lb title, with the winner then facing former WBO champion Chris Algieri.

Dulorme decisions Lundy; Centeno Jr destroys De La Rosa

dulorme777By Allan Fox: #2 WBA, #4 WBC, #4 IBF, #5 WBO light welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KOs) proved little last Saturday night in beating #6 IBF Hank Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs) by an unimpressive 10 round split decision on the undercard of the Gabriel Rosado vs. David Lemieux fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The final judges’ scores were 96-93, 97-92 for Dulorme, and 96-93 for Lundy. Dulorme was running and holding from the 6th round on, and it’s difficult to make an argument that he deserve the victory. He looked as bad in this fight as he did in getting stopped by Luis Carlos Abregu in 2012.

Kovalev Krushes Agnew and Dulorme Holds off Mayfield

kovalev11(Photo Credit: Larry Levanti/Main Events) By George Goddiess: When victories in the ring begin to come too easy for a rising fighter it becomes important that a test is provided along the road to the next stage. For Sergey Kovalev 2013 was a walk over year as he had four fights, four wins, all by knockout and all in the fourth or earlier. Kovalev finished the year as the new WBO titleholder positioned as a top two if not top three light heavyweight and poised to collide with the king pin of the division Adonis Stevenson.

Outside of Stevenson and fellow titleholder and legend Bernard Hopkins it was becoming difficult to name a fighter who could survive more than a few rounds with the powerful Kovalev. When Cedric Agnew of Chicago, Illinois was announced as Kovalev’s second title defense the major reaction was who? Heading into the fight the feeling was that Kovalev would win by stoppage and that Agnew did not offer all that much.

dulorme3By Dan Ambrose: Having miserably failed when he attempted to step it up a class at welterweight in his 7th round knockout loss to Luis Carlos Abregu last October, Puerto Rican Thomas Dulorme (16-1, 12 KO’s) will be looking to slowly ease his way into the light welterweight division to see if he can find better success at that weight class.

According to Fightnews.com, the 22-year-old Dulorme plans on fighting his next fight at 143 pounds in February to see how he feels at the lower weight, and then if he doesn’t okay he’ll move all the way down to 140 to campaign as a light welterweight.
