dulorme777By Allan Fox: #2 WBA, #4 WBC, #4 IBF, #5 WBO light welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KOs) proved little last Saturday night in beating #6 IBF Hank Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs) by an unimpressive 10 round split decision on the undercard of the Gabriel Rosado vs. David Lemieux fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The final judges’ scores were 96-93, 97-92 for Dulorme, and 96-93 for Lundy. Dulorme was running and holding from the 6th round on, and it’s difficult to make an argument that he deserve the victory. He looked as bad in this fight as he did in getting stopped by Luis Carlos Abregu in 2012.

The only difference is that Lundy didn’t have the size or fire power to finish off the exhausted and timid looking Dulorme in the last 5 rounds of the fight.

Lundy appeared to easily win the last 5 rounds due to his superior aggression, work rate and punch volume. Lundy also appeared to win 2 of the first five rounds. It’s hard to imagine what the judges were looking at when they gave Dulorme the victory, because he appeared to lose the fight by a 7 rounds to 3 margin.

Dulorme’s career may have stayed afloat with this controversial win, but it’s only a matter of time before he gets put in with someone like Lucas Matthysse and gets blasted out again.

In the co-feature bout on the card, middleweight Hugo Centeno Jr (22-0, 12 KOs) made short work of James De La Rosa (23-3, 13 KOs) in stopping him in the 5th round with a huge left hand. De La Rosa, who looked awful in his previous fight against Alfredo Angulo from last September, was too hurt to resume fighting.
In the 1st round, Centeno Jr dropped De La Rosa with a left hand to the head.

Centeno Jr looked decent in terms of punching power, but he showed a lot of holes in his game that would be exploited by the better middleweights in the division like Gennady Golovkin, Miguel Cotto and Peter Quillin. Those guys are definitely a couple levels above Centeno Jr in terms of talent.
