Instead, they approved WBO junior middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 KO’s) as Martinez’s next fight on March 12th at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The fight will be for the WBC Diamond middleweight title but the winner of the fight won’t need one of the WBC’s phony belts in order to get the respect from boxing fans.

By Dan Ambrose: With HBO passing on the Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga fight on March 12th, and choosing instead to show the WBC middleweight fight between Sergio Martinez and unbeaten Sergiy Dzinziruk, boxing fans are going to have to choose which fight they want to see, as Bob Arum, the promoter for Cotto, has decided to have the Cotto-Mayorga pay-per-view fight directly compete with the Martinez-Dzinziruk fight instead of wisely choosing to move it to a date that lacked another good fight.

However, Lee, 26, plans on going ahead and still fight on the card as long as HBO approves of his replacement opponent. There’s been talk of Peter Manfredo Jr. or Craig McEwan being brought in the replace Duddy.
