By Dominic Sauboorah: Unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) gritted out a 12 round decision win against the tough Carson Jones (34-9-2, 24 KO’s) in a grueling affair last night at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England. The first 5 rounds Brook dominated and landed some thudding shots, but Jones came back into the fight in the later rounds, landing tremendous body shots and some good shots to Brook’s chin.

Kell Brook boxing news
A flat night for British Boxing
By Simon Hirst: Saturday 7th July 2012 was meant to be the night two British lions roared to success after proving their credentials and intentions to go on and challenge for world honours. That was the script. It seems two certain Americans, in their own opposite ways, had not read this script. More than that, they did everything to ruin it.
Brook beats Jones in a close scrappy fight
Carson Jones: Everyone will see why I’m ranked higher than Kell Brook
Kell Brook: I could be Britain’s next super star
By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (27-0, 18 KO’s) fancies himself as the next star that’s coming out of the UK. It’s interesting that Brook sees himself in that role, because he’s still never faced anyone beyond C class opposition. Tomorrow night, Brook will be facing his first B level opponent in Carson Jones (34-8-2, 24 KO’s) at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK. To be sure, this is a step up for Brook, but it’s hardly a step up to where Brook can call himself a star if he wins.

Brook weighed in a half pound under the welterweight limit at 146.7 during Friday’s weigh-in, while Jones came in a little lighter at 146.5.
Eddie Hearn: I won’t rush Kell Brook
Carson Jones: I feel sorry for Brook on July 7th
By Scott Gilfoid: Carson Jones (34-8-2, 24 KO’s) says he’s going to knock Kell Brook (27-0, 18 KO’s) off his perch as one of the few unbeaten welterweights in the division this Saturday night in their battle at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Jones doesn’t care that he’s going to be pretty much the only American in in the arena on Saturday, because his only focus will be exposing Brook to his fans.
