Derek “Del Boy” Chisora – A heavyweight prospect you should keep your eye on

Image: Derek “Del Boy” Chisora – A heavyweight prospect you should keep your eye onBy Joe Mitchell: It was a blockbuster night last night for British boxing with Frank Warren putting on the magnificent seven show at Birmingham’s LG arena.

The best performance for me was by Derek Chisora who beat Sam Sexton for a second time stopping him in 9 rounds. I was very surprised because he looked fast skillful and showed he is one of the best heavyweight prospects coming through the ranks, definitely up there with Solis and Boystov. I have seen Chisora a few times but this performance was a breath of fresh air for the heavyweight division he showed real class at times and great head movement unlike Sam Peter did against Wladimir Klitschko recently.

Why does Arum want to match Margarito up against Pacquiao rather than someone else?

By Chris Williams: I can’t figure out why Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is so interested in matching Antonio Margarito up against Manny Pacquiao rather than someone else either inside his own stable or preferably outside. Recently, Pacquiao sent out a press release where he said he was still interested in facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. in November. Arum then came out saying that Margarito is definitely going to be fighting Pacquiao on November 13th. Why Margarito and not someone else? Heck, Margarito doesn’t even have a boxing license to fight in the United States and he may not even get it all by the time the fight takes place in November.

Angulo, 28, wanted $1 million to fight Martinez and wasn’t satisfied with the $750,000. Now, however, Angulo likely won’t be seen for the rest of the year on HBO, because their schedule is booked with fighters from other promotional companies. There was only that one small window for Angulo to fight and unfortunately he passed up on his opportunity.
