The best performance for me was by Derek Chisora who beat Sam Sexton for a second time stopping him in 9 rounds. I was very surprised because he looked fast skillful and showed he is one of the best heavyweight prospects coming through the ranks, definitely up there with Solis and Boystov. I have seen Chisora a few times but this performance was a breath of fresh air for the heavyweight division he showed real class at times and great head movement unlike Sam Peter did against Wladimir Klitschko recently.

Although Sexton had his moments it never looked like Chisora was really in trouble and after this performance he is easily the best heavyweight in UK behind David Haye. He also has a swagger like David Haye which is either loved or hated, but at least he has a bit of personality unlike these eastern European’s who are killing the division. I am not saying he is the next big thing but he can definitely shake things up in the next couple of years. In 14 fights Chisora is now Commonwealth and British Champion which is a great achievement, actually he has achievement more than Audley Harrison has in his whole career. I actually believe Chisora could compete with some of the divisions contenders. I can see him beating “Fast Food” Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson, Ruslan Chageav and more.

As for Chisora’s next step, he is due to fight again on December 11th and its Frank Warren 30th anniversary as a promoter and he wants to put on a bigger show than last nights, so Chisora will no doubt have a good opponent. I think Chisora does need to lose a bit of weight which will benefit him the longer a fight goes on. As for opponents I heard Valuev and Ruiz names mentioned but they out of the question. The fight I would like to see is Chisora vs. Tyson Fury. Fury is very well known in the UK and promoted himself very well and is a decent prospect. They are both big talkers, unbeaten and the fight is a better domestic showdown than Chisora vs. Sexton so hopefully Warren can pull it off. Other than that maybe Albert Sosnowski who is based in the UK would be good fight for Chisora.

How far can Chisora go?
