By Scott Gilfoid: In comparing International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s) with the younger and faster super middleweights in the division like Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell, I don’t see how or why Bute is still ranked number #1 in The Ring pound for pound rankings. I don’t see Bute as a number #1 fighter, not after looking at how badly be performed in his fight with Librado Andrade in 2008. Bute was lucky to have escaped from that fight without being knocked out in the 12th round after having been dropped by Andrade late in the round.

Pavlik-Martinez this Saturday night in Atlantic City
By Sean McDaniel: WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is facing a tough bout this Saturday night against Sergio Martinez at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This is a fight that the bigger punching Pavlik has to win if he’s to retain any credibility with boxing fans. Pavlik was already been beaten by 44-year-old Bernard Hopkins on 2008, but was able to hold onto his titles because the fight was held at a catch weight instead of at middleweight.
Miranda vs. Bute: Can Lucian stay away from Edison’s big power?
By Eric Thomas: On April 17th, knockout artist Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) will be traveling to Canada to face International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s) at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. For Miranda, he can’t afford to lose this fight if he wants to keep in the thick of things in the super middleweight division. Miranda was beaten in a one-sided 12 round decision loss last year against Andre Ward. Miranda looked really bad in that fight, far too slow for the much quicker Ward.
Hatton and Froch pick Haye to beat Ruiz
By William Mackay: Ricky Hatton and Carl Froch are both picking World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) to beat John Ruiz on Saturday night at the M.E.N Arena, in Manchester, England. In an article at the Express, Hatton says “Lennox was a great fighter and a hero of more up my street. He goes for the knockout and takes chances. He can fly the flag for British boxing.” Haye didn’t exactly go for the knockout in his last fight against 7-foot Russian Nikolay Valuev last November. In that fight, Haye looked timid, barely throwing anything and running all around the ring to avoid Valuev.
Haye might have to fight Valuev next after Ruiz bout – News
By Sean McDaniel: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) might have to put off his big plans of a big money mega fight against one of the Klitschko brothers. The Daily Star is reporting that a member of Valuev’s camp is saying that they have a rematch clause with Haye and are looking at fighting Haye in the summer. Haye has a fight coming up this Saturday night at the M.E.N Arena against John Ruiz. Provided that Haye wins that fight, he could find himself having to fight Valuev one more time so that he can get his contract obligations with him out of the way before looking in the direction of the Klitschko brothers.
Abraham’s lazy fighting style leads to desperation and disqualification
By William Mackay: Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) is no longer unbeaten after fouling out of last Saturday night’s bout with Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) in the 2nd part of the Super Six tournament in Detroit, Michigan. With Dirrell having built up a commanding lead going into the 11th round, Abraham, frustrated because of his inability to catch up to the speedy Dirrell, opted to take the easy way out by landing a crushing right hand as Dirrell was helpless on the canvas after slipping on water in Abraham’s corner.
Haye says he can’t wait to get his hands on the Klitschko brothers
By Chris Williams: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) is eager to land fights with the Klitschko brothers. In article at the Guardian, Haye says “One of them, both of them, whoever I can get hands on. I’d fight them on the same night if possible.”

Klitschko-Chambers: Will “Fast” Eddie ever be the same fighter?
By Sean McDaniel: Top WBO heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KO’s) experienced a really bad knockout defeat last Saturday night when he was stopped in the 12th round by IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) at the ESPRIT arena, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Chambers, 27, was badly knocked out after getting nailed by a monstrous left hook to the head from Klitschko, who wound up with the shot and reduced Chambers to a pile of rubble in the corner. Chamber suffered a bad concussion and was motionless after being dropped by Klitschko. There was no movement from Chambers for at least 25 seconds after the knock out.
Ruiz thinks the Klitschkos fight beatable fighters – News
By Jason Kim: Two time heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) seems to be a little peeved at being ignored by the Klitschko brothers all these years and not given a fight. Ruiz, 38, let his feelings known about both of the Ukrainian champions in an article at the Guardian, saying “The thing with the Klitschkos is they only fight people they can beat. They don’t go out there and fight people would actually give them a fight. I’ve been trying to meet up them for a quite awhile. But that’s boxing.” This is an interesting comment by Ruiz, and I can see how he would be upset by being ignored by the Klitschko brothers.
