Klitschko-Peter: Wladimir’s chin will be under a constant bombardment

By Dave Lahr: It’s been five years since IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has faced a slugger and he’s been able to get away with dominating the division by facing weaker punchers like Chris Byrd, Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson, Sultan Ibragimov, Calvin Broch, Ray Austin, Ruslan Chagaev, and Hasim Rahman.

Well finally Wladimir will be facing a real slugger and a real threat to his brittle, glass like chin when he faces Samuel Peter on September 11th at the Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. I hate to say it but Wladimir’s winning streak is about to end.

It’s time that Wladimir taste the canvas once again for one of his knockout losses. Peter is completely ready for this fight, in shape and ready to knock Wladimir’s head off on the 11th. You can expect a lot of fireworks on that night, at least on Peter’s part. He’s going to be throwing bombs from the word go and lookng to take Wladimir out with every shot.

I expect Wladimir to be running like no tomorrow, trying to survive and avoid Samuel’s huge shots. Last time they fought, Wladimir was all over Peter, hanging on him like a big coat in an effort to keep Peter from throwing punches. It was sad to see a fine slugger like Peter being prevented from doing what he does best.

The referee must have been asleep at the wheel because he let Wladimir clinch all over Peter all night long without taking points away. If would have disqualified Wladimir if it were up to me. I’m hoping the referee does his job and disqualifies or penalizes Wladimir until he changes his ways.
