Andy Lee vs. Billy Joe Saunders possible for March in Ireland

lee343By Scott Gilfoid: Newly crowned WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee (34-2, 24 KOs) expects to be back in the ring in March of 2015 in a fight against Billy Joe Saunders (21-0, 11 KOs) that could wind up taking place in Ireland.

Lee’s dream is to defend his title in Ireland in front of his Irish fans. Whether that will actually happen is another thing. The fight would likely make a ton of money if it takes place in the UK in one of the larger arenas. It’s hard to say whether Lee can pull in enough fans in Ireland for him to make a ton of money.

Chris Eubank Jr – Badblood aftermath

eubank55555By Rav: Chris Eubank Jr lost a 12 round split decision to Billy Joe Saunders in a big grudge match for the British, European and Commonwealth titles of which we learned a great deal about Eubank Jr.

Eubank Jr hadn’t fought anyone of this level before this bout and it showed in the early rounds he looked tense and at times looked unable to counter what Saunders was doing. Eubank Jr a full team athlete showed his stamina and endurance in the middle to late rounds getting stronger while Saunders tired and started to survive.

Britain’s pound for pound

By jochef: Nothing gets a good old debate going quite like a pound for pound list, not just weather or not you agree with the rankings, but also how you came to decide where to place the fighters in question. I simply went on gut feeling and if all these guys were the same weight and faced each other who would win.

Billy Joe Saunders takes the win but Eubank Jr is THE FUTURE

saunders5533By Gari Jones: In a real action packed fight both fighters gave the watching crowd and those at home a real treat. In a fight that showed tremendous courage, heart and stamina Billy Joe Saunders W21/KO11/L0 took the split decision over Chris Eubank Jr W18/KO13/L1 in a closely fought contest that I feel went the right way.

Billy Joe Saunders showed an impressive array of skills in his fight with Eubank Jr, the jab was effective, he boxed at range and made Eubank Jr miss only to follow with a counter strike. This trend continued for the first six rounds and many people scoring the fight had Saunders up 5-1 or 4-2 by then. This is where I feel Eubank Jr had the fight lost. Despite coming on much stronger in the later stages by then he was behind on the scorecards. And that was the deciding factor of this fight.

Saunders interested in rematch with Eubank Jr

saunders1By Scott Gilfoid: After winning a close and controversial 12 round split decision last Saturday night over Chris Eubank Jr (18-1, 13 KOs), Billy Joe Saunders (21-0, 11 KOs) says he would be interested in a rematch in the near future.

Saunders will first be looking to face the winner of the December 13th fight between Andy Lee and Matt Korobov for the WBO middleweight strap. If things go well for Saunders, he would then possibly face Eubank Jr in a rematch.

Saunders experience edges the win at the Excel

YouTube video
By Daniel Hughes – In a much anticipated fight between UK  middleweight prospects,Billy Joe Saunders 21-0 (11 ko’s) defeated Chris Eubank Jr 18-1 (13 ko’s) via split decision. The cards 116-113 Eubank Jr,115-113 and 115-114 for the European champion Saunders testament to the action that had taken place close and arguments after from both sets of supporters and pundits about who had done enough to win.

The key factor for I felt the pacing of the fight by both, Eubank Jr started slowly the opening four rounds for me clearly won by Billy Joe Saunders and probably the 5th also, the cleaner work being set up behind the Saunders jab and following up with some decent combinations.Eubank Jr only started to get a foothold in the contest after the half way mark to me he and his corner judged the pace of the fight incorrectly. Saunders southpaw style certainly kept Eubank Jr from making any impression in the early rounds, Saunders deserves credit for his performance his game plan came to fruition on the night. For Eubank Jr it was his first 12 round contest and looking back I believe he was conscious of trying to leave something in the tank but by doing so it cost him the fight.

Fury vs Chisora & Saunders vs Eubank Jr. Bad Blood Preview & Predictions

fury4by Ciaran McKInney: This coming Saturday, after what seems like an endless stream of press conferences, retirement threats and pre-fight antics, the boxing world will watch ‘Bad Blood’. The card will be headlined by the rematch of Tyson Fury vs Dereck Chisora. This domestic level bout will see the british and European straps up for grabs, however, the real prize of this bout, is the mandatory position for a fight with Wladimir Klitschko some time in 2015. This fight could potentially be a fight of the year candidate in the heavyweight division. It has all the ingredients, two hungry combatants, big punchers and a grudge that has played out over the course of the past 4 years.
