All British Super fights

khan777By Joseph Clark: A year on from the epic Carl Froch vs. George Groves II fight at a packed out Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 people. Are we getting any closer to securing another all British super fight?

Could another clash between two British fighters fill our national stadium, or any other stadium for that matter. Might we even be able to better that memorable night in London?

Let’s look at the potential fights and the probability of them happening!

Kell Brook v Amir Khan

This is probably the biggest domestic fight we could have on these shores right now. Both guys in good form, highly ranked and with a world title on the line. Add to that the clear dislike they have for each other and you have all the makings of a huge event.

Froch vacates IBF title

froch95By jochef: WBC/IBF Super Middleweight world champion Carl Froch has vacated his IBF strap to clear the way for #1 IBF contender James Degale to fight for the title possibly at the 02 Arena in London on April 25th.

#2 WBC super middleweight contender Andre Direll will be in the opposing corner in what looks like a 50/50 fight and a great headliner on a card which is also said to feature Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua against American journeyman “Kingpin” Kevin Johnson in a re-scheduled clash.

Britain’s pound for pound

By jochef: Nothing gets a good old debate going quite like a pound for pound list, not just weather or not you agree with the rankings, but also how you came to decide where to place the fighters in question. I simply went on gut feeling and if all these guys were the same weight and faced each other who would win.

Does Chris Jr need a new trainer? Eubank on it!

saunders6555By jochef: Last Saturday night at the Excel arena, London, UK, we saw Chris Eubank Jr (18-1-13 KO’s) go head to head with Billy Joe Saunders (21-0-11 Ko’s) for the British, commonwealth and European middleweight titles and possibly the chance to be the next in line for the WBO Word title which will be contested by Matt Korobov and Andy Lee.

Whether or not Eubank Jr deserved the shot is debatable, but one thing that’s not debatable is the fact that the fight was one that had both casual and hardcore fans both excited and divided in opinion, I felt before the fight that Saunders would have to much for Eubank Jr with his superior footwork and work rate and also his experience at going the 12 round distance, but actually what probably won him the fight in the end was the good instructions he was receiving from his corner and the lack of instruction Eubank Jr was receiving from his.

Is Floyd unsure of both Khan and Maidana?

mayweather434 (2)By jochef: Having been waiting for weeks now for Floyd Mayweather Jr to confirm his next opponent for his May 3rd Date at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada, I’m starting to think that Floyd might not be happy with either opponent on his shortlist.

Both Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana have been waiting for the news that they will be the one to win the Mayweather sweepstake and a Career high payday. However, because of the amount of time it’s taking for the Mayweather camp to lock down an opponent it’s making me think that they may have someone else in mind and if so a Khan v Maidana rematch on the undercard would really help to sell the event with maybe the winner to face Floyd in his next fight.

Special K needs a big name

brook764By jochef: I will start this article by saying I am a big fan of Kell Brook. He has all the tools to become a real force in the welterweight division, and his accurate punches and slick movement have at times left his opponents bewildered and completely out of ideas. However, his opponents have been largely limited in their ability and at this stage in his career. Should he have more names on his record?

I feel like his promoter Eddie Hearn has kept him quite safe and has now got himself to the stage where he is mandatory to the IBF title. He may lack the experience needed to go to an opponents back yard and bring home a title.
