Photo credit Tom Casino/Showtime: By Dan Ambrose: Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) was badly outclassed in his last fight in the Super Six tournament against Andre Ward, losing an embarrassing 12 round decision in June on Showtime. Although Ward looked excellent as usual, Green looked simply awful, much worse than you can even possibly imagine a fighter looking in such a high profile fight. Showtime wanted Green to step in as the replacement for Jermain Taylor, and as it turned out, it might have been a really poor choice of fighters.

Glen Johnson is going to be hard for Allan Green to beat
By Jason Kim: In the recent episode of Fight Camp 360, Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) revealed that Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) mostly got the better of him when they sparred in the past for Johnson’s fight with Roy Jones Jr.
Green-Johnson: Allan has to use his power to take Glen out
By Sean McDaniel: 31-year-old super middleweight contender Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) is 10 years younger than 41-year-old light heavyweight Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) in their November 6th Super Six tournament fight at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The age might as well be pointless, because Johnson, in his prime years, was a much better fighter than Green is now. Johnson has lost a little bit of his power and speed in the past five years, but he still has a great chin and a high work rate going for him. He may not need power to beat the likes of Green in their fight on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Rafael Marquez bout.
Johnson sees Super Six bout against Green as a great opportunity
By Scott Gilfoid: 41-year-old former IBF light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) plans on making the most of his great opportunity against Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) in their Super Six tournament bout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Johnson is replacing Mikkel Kessler who dropped out of the tournament because of an injury. Johnson has the luck of facing Green, an opponent that he’s well familiar with because he’s sparred with him many times in preparing for fights and helping him prepare for fights. In an article at the Las Vegas Review Journal, Johnson says “My first reaction [to getting picked to fight in the Super Six tournament] was, ‘Wow, what a great opportunity. This is, I think, the best tournament in boxing. When the possibility to be a part of it came up, I immediately started doing what I need to do to get down to the weight. I haven’t done 168 in like 10 years, so I just have to commit myself and go to work.”
Green-Johnson: Allan needs to be busy in this fight and not just look for one punch
By Jason Kim: Super middleweight contender Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) failed miserably in making a good impression in his first Super Six tournament bout last June against World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight champion Andre Ward, losing the fight by a lopsided 12 round decision. Green, 31, lost every round of the fight and looked worse than terrible. Green is now about to fight ring veteran Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) in two weeks on November 6th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Allan Green vs. Glen Johnson battle to make the semifinals of the Super Six tournament
By Jason Kim: The November 6th bout between Super Six tournament contestants Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) and Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) is a fight with a lot riding on it. The winner of the fight will find himself in the semifinals and the loser will be going home. The fight will be taking place on the undercard of the Rafael Marquez vs. Juan Manuel Lopez bout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Johnson, 41, is a replacement for inured WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler, who pulled out of the tournament due to an eye injury.
Allan Green vs. Glen Johnson on 11/6: Will they both be weight drained for the fight?
By Scott Gilfoid: In what could be one of the best fights of the Super Six tournament, knockout artist Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) will be facing aging 41-year-old light heavyweight Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) in a 12 round bout on the undercard of the Rafael Marquez vs. Juan Manuel Lopez bout on November 6th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Green, 31, lost his last fight in the Super Six tournament to Andre Ward on June 19th. It wasn’t the best way for Green to make his first appearance in the Super Six tourney after replacing Jermain Taylor, who bowed out due to a bad concussion he suffered in his loss to Arthur Abraham.
Allan Green fighting for his career against Glen Johnson
Glen Johnson will likely be weight drained and won’t be effective against Allan Green
By Dan Ambrose: The choice of picking 41-year-old light heavyweight Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34 KO’s) to square off with Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) in the 3rd stage of the Super Six tournament is going to be a bad one, as far as I can tell. Picking a fighter as old and as big as Johnson to replace WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler strikes me as both short sighted and desperate. Clearly, Showtime chose Johnson because he was better known than some of the other options that they could have selected due to Johnson’s fights against Chad Dawson.
Is Glen Johnson a poor replacement for Kessler against Green?
By Jason Kim: Showtime obviously was desperate to find a replacement for WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler when he pulled out of the Super Six tournament recently rather than stick it out and fight American Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s). In selecting Johnson, Showtime is getting a fighter that has lost two out of his last three fights and who has gotten to the point where he struggles to make the 175 pound light heavyweight limit. It almost seems as if Showtime wasn’t aware of the fact that Johnson is a light heavyweight and not a super middleweight.
