Abraham crushes Taylor: Could Jermain be replaced by Green or Miranda?

taylor43434By Jason Kim: After losing by a 12th round knockout to former International Boxing Federation middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s) on Saturday night with only six seconds to go in the bout, there are questions whether Jermain Taylor (28-4-1, 17 KO’s) will continue forward in the Super Six tournament. Taylor, 31, was viciously knocked out by a hard right hand from Abraham in the waning seconds of the bout, causing Taylor to fall back first on the canvas with the back of his head bouncing off the canvas hard.

News – De La Hoya Plans on Staying Retired; Green gunning for Froch

By Jason Kim: Oscar De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KO’s) says he doesn’t plan on coming out of retirement, and that he will be moving from Puerto Rico to Los Angeles to be closer to his company Golden Boy Promotions, according to the Daily news. De La Hoya is said to be happy in retirement, and still somewhat in shock that he’s not competing anymore, saying “I still say to myself, ‘wow, I’m not fighting ever again.”

Taylor, 30, weighed in at two pounds under the limit at 166. Froch, 31, is taking a big risk in traveling from England to fight in front of what will likely be a pro-Taylor crowd in Connecticut.

Super middleweight contender Allan Green (26-1, 18 KOs) continued with his successful comeback with an impressive 10-round lpsided unanimous decision over Ruben Williams (29-3, 16 KOs) on Friday night at the Million Dollar Elm Casino, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was the third consecutive win for Green, 28, since losing a disappointing unanimous decision loss to Edison Miranda in March 2007. Green had little problems with Williams, using mainly his jab and right hand to pound out the 10 round decision.

Green, 28, was being groomed as a future middleweight champion when he ran into Edison Miranda, who knocked him down twice, defeating him by 10-round unanimous decision in March 2007. However, unknown to most people, Green wasn’t well at the time of the bout, and required extensive surgery afterwards to remove much of his colon.
