Image: Green's coach: Kessler has no clueBy Scott Gilfoid: Mikkel Kessler will be making one of his rare appearances in the ring on Saturday night against the powerful American Allan Green in Denmark. Kessler seems to think this is going to be an easy fight, but Green will have something to say to that by giving him a rude welcoming to the light heavyweight division.

Green’s coach, Anthony Wilson, said “In the past weeks Kessler first said he a better boxer and Green was the bigger puncher who will come out at him to slut it out. Then Kessler changed his mind and said he himself had a bigger punch than Green. Kessler has got no clue what he is talking about.”

I agree. Kessler doesn’t know what Green is bringing to the table in this fight in terms of power, but he’s sure going to find it out the hard way when he starts tasting Green’s power in the first round. There’s no question that Green suffered a couple of setbacks in the Super Six tournament not long ago, losing to Glen Johnson and Andre Ward. However, that was Green weighed drained and weakened from having to squeeze down to a weight that he can no longer safely make. Green had no business trying to fight at super middleweight when he’s scaling close to 190.

He’s a big fighter with almost no fat on him. It was insane for him to try and get down to a weight that his body can’t make. I give him credit for trying, but in hindsight he shouldn’t have done it because he looked starved and weak in both fights. At light heavyweight, Green has his old power back and he’s mowing his opponents down like he did before.

Kessler is going to eat some big shots from Green and then start looking to avoid him in order not to get hit. I see Kessler focusing almost entirely on throwing jabs rather than trying to mix it up and risk getting hit. It won’t matter, because Green will chase him down and flurry on Kessler to get either a stoppage or a lopsided decision win in Denmark on Saturday night.
