Green vs. Ward: Is Allan too confident for his own good?

Image: Green vs. Ward: Is Allan too confident for his own good?By Scott Gilfoid: Super middleweight contender Allan Green (29-1, 20 KO’s) was recently picked as the replacement for Jermain Taylor in the Super Six tournament. While I think Green has good hand speed and nice power, I think he’s totally unproven as a fighter and someone who appears too confident for what he’s actually achieved in the boxing ring. Green, 30, appears confident to the extreme in his abilities as a fighter. Confidence is good, but with the exception of the mostly 2nd tier opponents that he’s faced during his career, Green hasn’t looked all that great when he’s fought upper level talent. Green also is starting to look a little old to me all of a sudden.

Andre Ward v Allan Green: A walkover? You’re joking, right?!

Image: Andre Ward v Allan Green: A walkover? You're joking, right?!By Daniel Ciminera: With their Super Six bout just around the corner, all I have read anywhere so far is about how the inexperienced Andre Ward (21/0) is going to tear Allan Green (29/1) to bits in even more “flamboyant fashion than he did Kessler” when they meet on the 24th of April in Oakland, California.

I sincerely hope that Ward isn’t reading this drivel and that his people are not feeding him the same rubbish. If so, then they are seriously underestimating Green. Which in my opinion, is a massive mistake which could see Ward get battered quite frankly.

Image: Ward-Green and Froch-Kessler could get a new date; Paul Williams vs. Cintron or Collazo in May? - NewsBy Jason Kim: The Super Six tournament stage 2 bouts between World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch vs. Mikkel Kessler, WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward vs. Allan Green could be moved from April 17th to a new date, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Apparently, there’s some kind of logistical issue involving the Froch-Kessler fight, which could affect the dates of the fights. However, this would actually work out better for the fighters and boxing fans, because HBO is showing a split site card on April 17th involving IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute facing Edison Miranda and WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik facing Sergio Martinez.

Green-Ward: Why Allan should not be so confident

Image: Green-Ward: Why Allan should not be so confidentBy Kirk Jackson: It’s no secret Allan Green is a confident fighter. Nothing wrong with confidence, as every athlete in their respective sport, or every person with whatever they do in life should be confident. It’s important to have self belief, and faith in your performance and abilities. But there is a thing as being over confident, cockiness, if you will. I believe super middleweight contender Allan Green suffers from this. Here is a fighter, at 30 years old and a 8 year professional, who has not really accomplished anything significant professionally.
