Image: News: Daniel Jacobs to fight on Cotto-Trout undercard on 12/1; Oosthuizen-ZunigaBy Allan Fox: Former middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (23-1, 20 KO’s) will be back in action on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Austin Trout card on December 1st against an opponent still to be determined at Madison Square Garden, in New York.

Jacobs, 25, is coming off of a 1st round knockout win last Saturday night against Josh Luteran on the Danny Garcia vs. Erik Morales undercard at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York. Jacobs flattened Luteran with a right, left, right combination that badly hurt him. This was Jacob’s first fight since March of last year.

Jacobs has been out of the ring due to a tumor that was wrapped around his spine. Thankfully, the doctors were able to remove it, but it cost him a lot of time away from the ring. Jacobs is now trying to make up for the lost time by being as busy as possible so that he can get back into the thick of things in the middleweight division.

Jacobs comes from New York and still currently lives there, so this is the perfect card for him to be fighting on.

Oosthuzen defends IBO 168 lb title against Zuniga on 11/10

IBO super middleweight champion Thomas Oosthuizen (20-0-1, 13 KOs) will be looking to hold onto his International Boxing Organization title on November 10th against the experienced Fulgencio Zuniga (25-5-1, 22 KO’s at the Emperor’s Palace, in Kempton Park, South Africa. But more important than his minor IBO belt, the 24-year-old Oosthuizen will be looking to keep his high ranking in the super middleweight division so that he can stay in position for an eventual world title clash.

Oosthuizen has looked great lately in beating Rowland Bryant, Marcus Johnson and Serge Yannick. He’s obviously going to be ready to step it up against a better class of competition after he faces – and beats – the 35-year-old light heavyweight Zuniga on November 10th. Zuniga defeated Alejandro Berrio by a 7th round TKO in his last fight in July.

It was Zuniga at hs best with him taking the fight to Berrio and turning it into a war. Zuniga was beaten last December by IBF light heavyweight chamnpion Tavoris Cloud by a 12 round unanimous decision. In March of 2009, Zuniga was stopped in the 4th round by IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute.
