Image: Who's the #1 pound-for-pound king: Pacquiao or Mayweatherby M.Khan: There are several pundits, experts and fans that agree with the notion that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the pound-for-pound king. We tend to accept that this claim is right without really studying the records and opponents they fought.

Lets Re-Evaluate their records and see what you think.

You will now have a side by side comparison…

Records:
Manny
Wins: 54 KO: 36 Loss: 3 / 2 by Knockouts DRAW: 2
Rounds Boxed: 353 KO: 64%

Floyd
Wins:43 KO: 26 Loss: 0 Draw: 0
Rounds Boxed: 350 KO: 60%

AGE:
Manny Pacquiao: 33
Floyd: 35

Years as a PRO
Manny: January 1995
Floyd: October 1996

Same Notable Challengers and Results
Oscar Dela Hoya ( Manny RTD 8 / Floyd D ) Did Floyd really win?
Ricky hatton ( Manny: KO 2 / Floyd KO 10 )
Juan Manuel Marquez ( Manny W2 D1 / Floyd D ) Lets say so that some of you are happy….MARQUEZ won 1.
Shane Mosley ( Mannny D / Floyd D )
Miguel Cotto ( Manny KO 12 / Floyd D )

Other Key Fights

Manny : Marco Barrera, Eric Morales, Antonio Margarito
Marco: Top notch fighter, good way to test yourself, stepping up in class.

Eric: Ever dangerous, you do not want to fight this guy everyday.

Antonio: Can be a dangerous fighter, never an easy fight, even though Manny made it look that way..

Floyd: Zab Judah, Arturo Gatti. Victor Ortiz
Zab Judah: Zab is a quality fighter, but lacks strong heart for when things get tough.

Arturo Gatti: Style makes fights: Style could never get him a win against Floyd.

Victor Ortiz: From what we saw, Floyd had the early control of the fight, we will not know how it would have been in the later rounds, considering Ortiz determination, and especially his last performance against Andre Berto.

Year started fighting Notable Opponents

Manny: 2003….Barrera
Floyd: 2005……Gatti

Last 10 fights
Manny: W 10 KO 4 Decision: 5 RTD: 1 ( Many of Manny’s decisions could have been a KO had he wanted it)
Floyd: W 10 KO 3 Decision: 6 RTD; 1 ( Did Floyd really win against Dela Hoya )

Summary:

Even if you would deduct points for Manny’s three losses, the number of fights and the quality of opponents
will still make him pound-for-pound KING.

I am a fan of all good boxers, I really in my earlier days did not like Manny, but I have to accept the FACTS.
The early losses of Manny can be blamed on the Filipino promoters. Floyd had skills but was still MOLDED and matched well without risk. He already had an edge with his skills and his family name…so he was going to be molded to get a good recorded.

So based on their first notable fight, to now and especially the last 10 fights….quality challengers….PACMAN is the pound for pound king!
