Hearn is in negotiations with Katsidis right now to try and arrange the fight.

Meanwhile, Martin Rogan is being offered a position in Prizefighter the International heavyweights on June 20th for York Hall. Rogan, if he takes part, will have some heavy competition in the tournament, as the following heavyweights will be taking part in it: Kevin Johnson, Alberto Sosnowski, Kali Meehan and Tom Dallas American knockout artist Deontay Wilder has been given an invitation, as well as Big John McDermott from the UK. It’s difficult to see Rogan coming out on top against those kinds of heavyweights, but you never know.

McCloskey, 32, was recently stopped by DeMarcus Corley by a 10th round stoppage earlier this month on the 5th. There was talk of McCloskey possibly retiring from boxing, but he’s decided to keep fighting. Hearn decided not to demote McCloskey to the European level like he said he might do.

Instead, he’s hoping to match him up against the tough Katsidis in a crossroads fight. Katsidis, 31, can ill afford to lose another fight at this point, because he’s lost four out of his last five fights. In Katsidis’ most recent loss, he was beaten by Albert Mensah by a 10 round majority decision last month on April 13th.

It was a case of bad matchmaking for Katsidis because Mensah was a lot taller and looked much heavier than Katsidis in that fight. It was like watching a lightweight fight a junior middleweight.

Katsidis simply didn’t have the size to compete. That was also the case in his losses to Robert Guerrero and Ricky Burns, both taller and heavier looking. Katsidis was also beaten by Juan Manuel Marquez in November 2010.
