If Carl Froch were to beat Lucian Bute, would fans be shocked?

Image: If Carl Froch were to beat Lucian Bute, would fans be shocked?By Dallan O’ Donnell: Trying to see ways that Carl Froch could come away from this weekend’s fight against Lucian Bute as the winner is quite difficult.

How can Froch overcome such a skilled fighter? How can Froch, coming off a loss, upset an undefeated world champion?

Not many, apart from Froch fans, are giving the Nottingham man a chance to beat Bute. But why? Froch is not a fighter who lies down easily.

Granted, Andre Ward beat him easily in the super six final but I think that Ward is a different level. You look at the other loss that Froch has against Mikkel Kessler in Denmark, many people put that down to a hometown decision. I know I did.

Froch has fought top level opponents. He would have learned from his losses.

Bute has, by many analysis’s anyway already been given the victory. He may be undefeated, but this is his biggest fight to date. Froch has been around the block so to speak, Bute hasn’t.

I don’t disagree that Bute is a good fighter with skills that Froch simply doesn’t possess, but sometimes skills are not enough.

Froch has hometown advantage. Bute has only fought outside of Canada a handful of times. And that was only when he was an up and coming fighter.

Froch has a heart of steel. Even when hurt, he finds the will to come back with his own hurtful shots. Bute has not been in with the same level of opponent that Froch has. Bute has however fought decent fighters but not like Froch.

This won’t be easy for Bute. Nottingham will be a very, very hostile place on Saturday. The place will explode when Froch lands anything, be it on the gloves or not. And we have seen that sway judges before.

Everyone sees this as a Bute win but I see the Cobra coil and strike to take Bute’s IBF title. Froch wins on Saturday.
