Instead of looking at his huge height and reach advantage of the pint-sized Mormeck as a plus, Wladimir sees it as a negative. I wonder if he’s worried about selling out the ESPRIT arena?

Wladimir said to Sky Sports News “It is extremely difficult to box against a man who is a lot shorter. It does not make my job easier…When you see how he talks, looks and moves then that shows he had the will and determination to become the first world heavyweight champion from France.”

I think it’s the other way around. I see it as it being really tough for a man with a listed height of 5’11”, but perhaps not taller than 5’9″, having to deal with a guy standing 6’6″. How is he going to land with his short arms? And Wladimir is only talking about height here. He’s also 30 pounds heavier, much more powerful and has an extensive reach advantage. The only way Wladimir messes things up in this fight is if he fights short, and lets Mormeck crowd him all night long to try and fight him on the inside. Wladimir doesn’t fight that way against anyone, so I can’t expect him to start now against the shortest opponent of his career Mormeck. He’s going to fight tall, use his jab and keep Mormeck running around on the outside trying to dodge shots. It’s going to be like Wladimir is in a shooting gallery tagging one small target after another. It’ll be too easy for him at the end of the day. Mormeck appears confident but that’s meaningless. He’ll need more than that to pull off an upset on Saturday night.
