Mormeck training hard for Klitschko fight

By Jason Kim: Former cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck (36-4, 22 KO’s) is really taking serious his title challenge of IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s), who he faces on December 10th at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Mormeck, 39, looks to be working really hard in training video on Dailymotion.com. Mormeck, #9 IBF, #9 WBA, #9 WBO, is working hard on weigh resistance exercizes and was shown doing sets with 315 pounds on the bench press. However, he still looks bulky and slow compared to his prime years when he fought at cruiserweight.

With his lack of height, weight and agility, it’s going to be tough for Mormeck to stay on his feet for long against the bigger, stronger and much more talented Wladimir. The training video for Mormeck didn’t have a date added to it, but it was a recent one then he’s in deep trouble against Wladimir, because Mormeck looks out of shape. He needs to lose more weight and work on his conditioning. His trainer actually looked more agile than he did, which is kind of sad.

Wladimir, 35, says he picked out Mormeck because all of the other top contenders turned him down for a fight. He wanted a recognizable name for an opponent, and Mormeck, who has been around for a long time, was easily the most recognizable name among the bunch. However, Mormeck hasn’t looked good since he moved up to the heavyweight division in 2009 and it would be fair to say that even Samuel Peter, who has lost his last two fights, would easily handle the smaller Mormeck. A third fight between Wladimir and Peter would still be a more interesting fight than the Mormeck bout, and that kind of tells you how bad of a match-up this fight is
