Khan plans on fighting Judah, Bradley and Prescott in that order

According to the latest boxing news, Khan wants to fight IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah first on July 23 in their unification bout in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following that, Khan, if he successfully beats Judah, will then go after a big unification bout against WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in late 2011. And if Khan wins that fight, he will finally attempt to avenge his 1st round knockout loss to Prescott in 2012.

The problem with all of that, besides Khan possible losing to Judah and Bradley, is that the World Boxing Association may choose to strip Khan of his WBA title if he doesn’t face Marcos Maidana, his mandatory challenger. Khan, of course, can let the WBA take the title, as he would still have the IBF belt. But Khan had said he wanted to unify all the titles and that may be difficult to do unless Khan faces Maidana again before he takes on Bradley in late 2011, if that fight can even be made in 2011.

Under the best case scenario, a rematch against Prescott may not happen until late 2012 if at all. If Khan gets beaten by Judah or Bradley, it’s probably safe to say that boxing fans won’t be seeing Khan fighting Prescott again in the foreseeable future. It would simply be too risky for Khan at that stage because he would have two losses on his record and Prescott, with his big power, would likely knock Khan out for a 2nd time. Khan’s handlers probably don’t want to see their golden goose get plucked before they can cash out.

I personally think the chances of a Khan-Prescott rematch is remote at best. There are too many chances that Khan will get knocked cold by Judah or Bradley. And if Khan is forced to fight Maidana again, forget it. I can’t see Khan winning a rematch no matter what.
