Breidis Prescott: Canelo stops Khan in six

1-DSC07354By Dan Ambrose: Colombian knockout artist Breidis Prescott is predicting a sixth stoppage victory for WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) in his fight against Amir “King” Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) on May 7. Prescott expects the 25-year-old Canelo to be too big and too strong for Khan to handle his power.

Prescott knows Khan well from having destroyed him in one round in their fight eight years ago in 2008. In that fight, Prescott dropped Khan hard with a left-right combination in the 1st round. When Khan got back to his feet, Prescott dropped him again and got a stoppage.

Mayweather says Khan has unfinished business with Danny Garcia and Breidis Prescott

floyd5656By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like Amir Khan can pretty much forget all about getting a fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr next year unless Khan takes care of his unfinished business with his two biggest blemishes on his resume in his knockout losses to Breidis Prescott and Danny Garcia.

Khan never did anything to avenge those losses, and instead he moved on without trying to rectify those glaring defeats. Mayweather is saying that Khan still has problems from the past that he’s not taken care of in those two fights.

Mayweather didn’t come right out and say he won’t fight Khan unless he avenges the defeats but you can pretty much read it as such.

Alvarado decisions Rios in upset; Crawford defeats Prescott

rios1By Jim Dower: Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) took a beating on Saturday night in getting out-boxed by Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) in losing by a 12 round unanimous decision at the at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rios hurt Alvarado early in the fight with a jab, but he was unable to finish him off. After that, Alvarado took control of the fight and was able to hurt Rios on several occasions with big right hands to the head in winning the fight by the scores of 115-113, 115-113 and 114-113.

Alvarado ended up with bad swelling around both eyes as well as a cut on the side of his left eye. Rios’ left eye was badly swollen.
