The surgeon is reportedly pleased with the results of the operation. This is great news for Boytsov, as there’s a small chance that he could wind up facing World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye if the British heavyweight’s fight with number #1 WBA heavyweight contender Ruslan Chagaev fails to materialize due to Chagaev’s past hepatitis B diagnosis.

Boytsov, 24, is ranked #2 by the WBA, so he would be next in line for a fight with Haye. This would be a great fight for Boytsov to take, as he’s been matched carefully during his six-year pro career and still hasn’t fought a top tier fighter. Although it would be a nice gift for Boytsov to get a good money fight with Haye, he might not be prepared for the fight due to his lack of experience. However, unlike Haye, Boytsov has always been a heavyweight, and he’s built for the division with both size and an excellent chin. This could end up being a very dangerous fight for Haye to take.

Chagaev doesn’t punch as hard and doesn’t throw combinations nearly as well as Boytsov. That might be the better option for Haye to take if he wants to have a better chance of holding onto his WBA title a little longer so that he can get an eventual fight with one of the Klitschko brothers.
