Fury to get Vitali fight if he beats Boytsov

Image: Fury to get Vitali fight if he beats BoytsovBy Scott Gilfoid: In a real scary scenario, unbeaten and unproven British heavyweight Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) is in a position to get a fight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko if Fury beats Denis Boytsov (31-0, 25 KO’s) next month in their World Boxing Council heavyweight title eliminator bout on December 1st at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

What’s scary about this is how over-matched Fury would be if he were to be thrown in the ring with Vitali. I don’t care that Vitali is 41 now and fighting at roughly 80 percent of what he once was, he’ll still destroy Fury no problem if that fight happens next year. God, it would be one of those fights where boxing fans end up shaking your head afterwards wondering why on earth the fight was ever put together in the first place.

I don’t see Fury beating Boytsov, at least not without some incredibly controversy. Boytsov is a much better fighter than Fury and will easily win that fight. However, Fury is fighting Boytsov in Belfast, so this will be a home fight for Fury despite the fact that he’s from nearby England. Fury has recently started fighting in Northern Ireland. I think Boytsov might find it VERY hard to get a decision win against Fury in Belfast. Boytsov has been boxing for a while now but he’s been fighting out of Germany where he gets a lot of support. In Belfast, Boytsov will be on his own.

I saw what happened to visiting fighter Breidis Prescott when he went over and totally dominated Irish fighter Paul McCloskey last year. I had Prescott winning 11 rounds to 1 easy, and yet McCloskey was given a 12 round unanimous decision. The crowd went for every missed punch that McCloskey threw, and it looks like the judges got the impression that McCloskey was actually landing punches instead of hitting air.

I can see the same thing happening with Boytsov against Fury. He’ll trounce Fury, but then possibly end up losing a decision. As such, we could see Fury getting the fight with Vitali next year, if Vitali doesn’t retire and go off into politics in Ukraine.

With the way that Fury has been hitting the deck lately against light punchers, I’d be surprised if he could make it out of the 1st round against Vitali. Once Vitali has Fury hurt, he’ll finish him off instead of letting him off the hook like the guys Fury has been fighting lately.
