Image: Tyson Fury to stay off twitter until after Boytsov fightBy Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) says he’s disengaging from his twitter account until after his December 1st fight against unbeaten Russian heavyweight contender Denis Boytsov (31-0, 25 KO’s) Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

Fury said on his twitter “I am now switching my phone off till after the fight [with Boytsov] on December 1…I’ll win. I will win. I’m the best.”

If I was analyze what Fury is saying in the last comment I’d swear that Fury seems to be trying to convince himself that he can beat Boytsov. I see a fighter that is questioning his own confidence now and needs some help to try and find the badly needed confidence to win this fight. Is this a cry for help from Fury?

Fury switching off his phone to stay away from twitter seems to suggest that there’s a mess of fear there about this fight, and it looks like we may be seeing the cracks starting to form in Fury’s facade. He must realize by now that the talented 26-year-old Boytsov can ruin his boxing career by knocking him out or sending him to the canvas over and over again like a big bird on December 1st.

A loss like that would send Fury back to the elementary stages of his career to where I can’t see him ever clawing his way back up.

I don’t care how many domestic level fighters his promoter Mick Hennessy feeds the 6’9″ Fury to try and rebuild him after a knockout loss to Boytsov, I don’t see him being able to get back to where he is right now if things fall apart for him against Boytsov.

Fury, 6’9″, for the first time in his career is facing someone with real talent, who won’t be coming in fat and will be looking to KO him into next week. Boytsov is the real deal and on paper he’s simply a much better fighter than Fury.

Boxing has seen lot of big fighters like Fury that built up their resumes on weak opposition and then they fell apart when they were put in with their first real opponent. I think we could be seeing this with Fury on December 1st when he faces his first talented opponent in Boytsov.
