Look for Mayweather to sign the contract for the Pacquiao bout soon

Image: Look for Mayweather to sign the contract for the Pacquiao bout soonBy Dave Lahr: I expect Floyd Mayweather Jr. to sign the contract that was sent over to him by Bob Arum at any moment. I think Mayweather might drag it out to the last minute, but I think he’s going to sign the contract so he can move forward and spank Manny Pacquiao’s backside on November 13th. Mayweather can’t back out of this fight, because he’s got his family and friends that all want him to make the fight. It would look bad if he was to take this fight after all the talk and the build up.

However, once Mayweather signs the contract, which is rumored to be a 50-50 for the purse split with random blood testing, then I expect Mayweather to give Pacquiao a terrible beating and leave the Filipino fighter a bloody mess. This fight isn’t going to be even remotely close, because Mayweather is a couple levels above Pacquiao in terms of fighting ability.

Pacquiao is basically a crude slugger who has done well against a handful of beatable fighters. Against his best opponent of his career, Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao got totally out-boxed and badly schooled twice. However, the judges scored the first fight draw and the second fight a 12 round split decision for Pacquiao. I have to say that is two of the worst scoring fights I’ve seen in my life.

I had Marquez easily beating Pacquiao both times. And this tells you something. If Pacquiao can’t beat Marquez, a fighter that Mayweather totally dominated last year, then how in the heck is Pacquiao going to beat Mayweather? I’ll answer that question – Pacquiao won’t! He’s going to get humilated beyond belief by Mayweather, and I can just see hear the excuses that will come pouring in by Pacquiao’s fans afterwards. I just hope that Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach don’t start jabbing nonstop, talking how they got ripped off. There’s going to be nothing controversial about the beating that Mayweather is going to be putting on Pacquiao. He’s going to take him to school and teach him a thing or two about boxing and expose his skills, or lack thereof, in front of the entire civilized world.

I just hope Pacquiao doesn’t take his beating too hard and hide away afterwards. There’s no shame in taking a beating from Mayweather. Pacquiao should be proud after he loses, and be happy if he’s still standing at the end of the fight. Even if Pacquiao’s nose will probably be twisted, his eyes bloodied and his lips busted like smashed watermelons.
