mayweather433456547By Liam Santiago: For what it’s worth Freddie Roach has announced his own personal pound for pound rankings. I also am about to announce mine. Surprise, surprise, guess who makes it into Roach’s list, Amir Khan. I have a lot of respect for Roach but thank God he has no say in any official rankings as his choice of ten is pretty crazy to put it lightly.

I was amazed to see Khan beat the likes of Miguel Cotto, Paul Williams, Vitali Klitschko, Kelly Pavlik and Ivan Calderon to the number ten spot. Does getting knocked out in 50 seconds, beating a cab driver, a very, very past his prime Barrera and a slow, non punching Kotelnik warrant a place in the pound for pound rankings. What a load of bollo*ks. If I was to rank Khan in such a list I would place him at around number 70/80, and that is being fair.

This is how the Roach top ten stand:

1.Manny Pacquiao
2.Floyd Mayweather
3.Juan Marquez
4.Edwin Valero
5.Arthur Abraham
6.Mikkel Kessler
7.Andre Ward
8.Shane Mosley
9.Israel Vasquez
10.Amir Khan

Crazy, I know. Firstly, I do not quite see how Valero made it to number four. He is a great puncher yes, but, he has beat no one of note. Mikkel Kessler should not even be seen as the best super middleweight. His best achievement was a defeat. Who has he beat? Answer me that. He is very basic and slow. Lastly, we all know why Amir Khan is their. Because Roach trains him and is trying to give him a little boost of confidence.

Here is my pound for pound list:

1.Floyd Mayweather
2.Bernard Hopkins
3.Manny Pacquiao
4.Miguel Cotto
5.Vitali Klitschko
6.Kelly Pavlik
7.Ricky Hatton
8.Shane Mosley
9.Timothy Bradley
10.Paul Williams

Many comments will follow this article asking why Ricky Hatton is in the mix. Well to save all the confusion, I will answer now. He lost against Pacquaio because he was not in any state to be fighting. He should have called off the fight. If you ask me, Mayweather Sr. acted the way he did prior to the fight because he feared Hatton eventually meeting his son Floyd Mayweather Jnr. He saw Pacquiao as an easier costumer, which is correct. If Hatton was to meet Pacquiao again, he would stop him, just like Miguel Cotto will do.

I still stand by my statement that if Cotto does not beat Pacquiao, I will quit my writing career. Trust me, put your mortgage on Cotto, he is going to stop the little Filipino. Just trust me.
