By William Mackay: It seems that IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah wasn’t the second choice for WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO’s) after WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) turned down the July 23 date to fight Khan. Instead of going after the more relevant bout against the still in his prime Judah, Khan and Golden Boy Promotions, Khan’s promoter, tried to get a fight with fading star Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO’s), but Morales reportedly turned down a big $1.5 million offer to fight Khan, according to boxing news from Dan Rafael at ESPN.

However, with Pacquiao’s team selecting 37-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez to fight in a catchweight bout in November and with the comments that Khan said about Judah recently in an article at boxingfutures.com, where Khan called Judah a runner, Judah has reversed course and is now eager to face Khan.

By William Mackay: Dan Rafael is reporting that WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley has decided to pass on fighting WBA light welterweight champ Amir Khan on July 23rd. The thought here is that Bradley will wait out the fight with Khan until Bradley’s promotional contract runs out with his promoter Gary Shaw at the end of June. At that point, Bradley will be looking for a fight against the best possible opponent whoever that may be.
