Khan wanted to unify all the light welterweight titles, but will have to settle for less

Image: Khan wanted to unify all the light welterweight titles, but will have to settle for lessBy William Mackay: Unless WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan changes mind about moving up to the welterweight division in the near future, he may have to settle for only unifying the WBA and IBF titles if he can beat 34-year-old Zab Judah, who looks to be Khan’s next opponent in July. Khan wanted to take on WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley next, but the money that was offered to Bradley was hardly worth him bothering to take the fight. Bradley was offered $1.2 million to fight anyone, no matter who, and only $1.3 to fight Khan.

Amir will likely not be fighting Zab Judah next

Image: Amir will likely not be fighting Zab Judah nextBy Mark Young: Zab Judah, the IBF light welterweight champion, has consistently been touted as Amir Khan’s next opponent if Timothy Bradley refuses to fight the King; this isn’t a fight that GBP will want to make next. It’s not going to happen. Zab is dangerous, he’s wild, unpredictable and he’s a southpaw. Coupled with Zab’s unpredictability is the fact he’s been working on his defence with Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker and that’s going to give him a little more composure under pressure than he had before. Zab is far more likely to knock Khan out than Bradley, who would prefer to weather Khans quick onslaught then pick him apart when he predictably runs out of ideas.

Judah says Khan fight almost done

Image: Judah says Khan fight almost doneBy Dan Ambrose: Light welterweight contender Zab Judah (40-6, 27 KO’s) is saying that a fight with WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan is almost done on his twitter page. Judah, 33, said this on his twitter page: “Fights almost done. Judah vs. Khan!!! USA or UK?”

It remains to be seen if Golden Boy Promotions will actually match their fighter Khan with Judah, because it’s a dangerous fight for Khan because Judah is a southpaw, his excellent speed and can punch a little. Judah looked horrible in his recent fight against Argentinian knockout artist Lucas Matthysse, winning a controversial 12 round split decision last month on November 6th.
