Los Angeles – Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) brought championship boxing back to FOX in prime time Saturday night after an almost 20-year absence and delivered a resounding ratings knockout. The PBC on FOX, headlined by an intense 12-round battle for the vacant welterweight title between victor Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero, delivered PBC’s best audience since April 2015.

By Dan Ambrose: Last Saturday’s welterweight contest between Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) brought in huge ratings on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The Garcia-Guerrero fight drew 2.518 million viewers on Fox, which makes it the third best fight card on PBS, according to Lance Pugmire.
What made those numbers even more impressive was that the undercard really wasn’t stacked with talent and big names. In the co-feature bout, the light hitting #12 WBC welterweight contender Sammy Vasquez (21-0, 15 KOs) stopped high level journeyman Aaron Martinez (20-5-1, 4 KOs) in the 6th round after Martinez injured his left arm.

By Tim Fletcher: Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) wasn’t impressed with the punching power of Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) last night despite losing the fight to him by a 12 round unanimous decision in their battle for the vacant WBC welterweight title on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox.
Guerrero came away from the fight feeling he had done more than enough to deserve a decision. One thing that Guerrero noted about Garcia was his punching power, or lack thereof. While Guerrero believes that Garcia has decent power, he doesn’t see it as the knockout power that he had when he was fighting in the 140lb division.
Thurman says he’ll beat Danny Garcia
By Dan Ambrose: WBA “regular” Welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) attended last night’s fight between Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) and Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) and he come away from the fight feeling that Garcia did enough to deserve the victory to become the new WBC welterweight champion.
Thurman says Garcia is a future opponent for him, and that he has no doubts he’ll beat him and take away his unbeaten record. Thurman is talking about wanting to fight Garcia after Thurman takes care of business in his March 12 fight against Shawn Porter.

By Dan Ambrose: The judges had Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) beating Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) last night by an 8 rounds to 4 score in their fight for the vacant WBC 147lb title, but Floyd Mayweather Jr. didn’t agree at all with the scoring for the fight.
Mayweather had the fight scored a 12 round draw. The judges scored it 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. I thought the scoring was too wide in favor of Garcia.

By Dan Ambrose: 32-year-old Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) came up a little short last Saturday night in his 12 round unanimous decision loss to undefeated Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
With the vacant WBC welterweight title on the line, Guerrero gave Garcia all kinds of problems in the first five rounds of the fight. Guerrero says he wants a rematch with Garcia, because he feels he should have won the fight.

Scores were 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecard.
Fighting for the vacant WBC Welterweight World Title in the first Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on FOX event, Guerrero came out aggressively in the first four rounds using a solid jab and strong over hand left hands to control the action.

By Dan Ambrose: The big favorite Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) easily won a 12 round unanimous decision over #6 WBC Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night to capture the vacant WBC welterweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The final judges’ scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. I didn’t agree with the scoring at all.
I thought Guerrero won 5 rounds. If he had been able to do just a little bit more in the last four rounds, I would have had him winning the fight. Of course, with the way the judges scored the fight tonight, I think Guerrero would have needed a knockout to win. He was in a hopeless situation.

By Jim Dower: Former WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) showed off his boxing skills as well as his power tonight in beating former two division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision to claim the vacant WBC 147lb title on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The three judges were in agreement in scoring it 116-112, 116-112, and 116-112. The scoring was pretty much on target. There were a couple of rounds that could have gone either way in the first half of the fight. Guerrero lost the fight by not attacking hard in the second half the way he needed to.
