Froch to start training for May 21st bout against Johnson: I smell fear

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) says that he’s starting his training this week for his semifinal Super Six tournament bout against Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) on May 21st. I smell fear coming from Froch a million miles away. Here Froch has months to go before this fight, and he’s already starting his training. At this rate, Froch is going to be a walking skeleton by the time he enters the ring against Johnson.

Froch-Johnson on 5/21 at the O2 Arena, in London

By Scott Gilfoid: It’s looking like Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) is going to have to travel to England on May 21st to face WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) at the O2 Arena, in Greenwich, London. I don’t like this for Johnson. I think he’s going to have problems in this fight if he doesn’t score a knockout. Froch was able to win a controversial 12 round decision over Andre Dirrell while fighting at home in England in his first fight in the Super Six tournament in 2009.

Froch-Johnson: Glen considering fighting Carl in England if the money is right

Image: Froch-Johnson: Glen considering fighting Carl in England if the money is rightBy Scott Gilfoid: 42-year-old Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) faces WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) in the semifinals of the Super Six tournament on May 21st at a still to be decided venue. To his credit, Johnson is saying he would be agreeable to fighting Froch in England if the money is fight, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Normally, I would strongly urge Johnson to avoid fighting Froch in his home city of Nottingham, England, after seeing Froch win what appeared to be a hometown decision over the blistering fast Andre Dirrell in the Froch’s first fight in the Super Six tournament in October 2009.

But to Froch’s good fortune, Abraham was softened up nicely by the talented Andre Dirrell, who sacrificed himself to get the win but who was forced to pull out of the Super Six tournament after being brutally fouled by Abraham after slipping to the canvas.
