Deontay Wilder wants Anthony Joshua in 2017

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) wants to take IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s title from him in 2017 if the fight can get made. Wilder sees Joshua’s December 10th fight against #8 IBF Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) as a prelude to a fight between the two of them in 2017.

Wilder is just hoping that the 26-year-old Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) can get past the hard hitting 6’4” Molina, because the challenger will be coming into the ring to fight his heart out on December 10. Molina won’t be an easy out for Joshua, as he’ll be looking to bounce right hands off the chin of the British fighter, especially if he bum rushes him like he does against all of his opponents.

Joshua expects Molina to put out 50-60% more effort

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) believes his opponent Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) will put out as much as 60% more effort next month in their fight on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Joshua believes that fighters give more of themselves when they fight in big fights like the one that Molina will be in next month.

Joshua thinks the 34-year-old Molina is the toughest guy of the ones they were looking at for him to fight. The other opponents that Joshua had to pick from were from this list: Bermane Stiverne, Kubrat Pulev, Hughie Fury, Johan Duhaupas, Joseph Parker, and Jarell Miller.

I can’t say that Molina was the toughest of this bunch. I do think Molina is a heck of a lot better than Hughie Fury though, but that’s the only one on the list that I feel that Molina is better than.

Wilder expects Eric Molina to give Joshua problems

1-joshuamolinahires

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder expects former world title challenger Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) to potentially give IBF heavyweight title holder Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) problems in their fight on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Wilder thinks that Molina’s heart and determination to win will make him fight harder. Molina will take more shots in this fight in order to try and win. He’ll land more shots. Joshua will need to be able to take some punches for a change, because the guys he’s been fighting haven’t been throwing punches.

They’ve been just standing around looking too timid to let their hands go. The last time Joshua fought guys that threw punches back at him was in the 2012 Olympics, when he won one controversial fight after another against guys that appeared to get the better of him.

Molina: I’ll hit Joshua harder than he’s ever been hit

1-WILDERvsMOLINA-06132015-4562

By Scott Gilfoid: Contender Eric Molina 25-3, 19 KOs) says he plans on hitting IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) harder than he’s ever been hit before in his three-year pro career when the heavyweights fight each other next month on December 10 on Sky Box Office pay-per-view from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

It doesn’t really say much that Molina will be hitting Joshua harder than he’s been hit as a pro, because he’s been matched by his promoter against largely non-punchers since he turned pro. The only guy of the 17 opponents that Joshua has faced with any kind of pop in his punches was Dillian Whyte, who came into the fight with him last December with a bad left shoulder. That was Whyte’s power hand.

Joshua-Molina & Whyte-Chisora on December 10

1-joshuamolinahires

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it’s now official that IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will be defending his strap against #8 IBF contender Eric Molina on December 10th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. A good fight, this is not. It’s a nice mismatch, and rate it as a worse mismatch than Joshua’s recent dreadful fight against fringe contender Dominic Breazeale last June at the O2 in London.

The boxing fans don’t seem to be greeting the news of the Joshua-Molina fight with happiness. In looking at the various forums on the Internet, the fans seem pretty angry about the Joshua vs. Molina fight, as they see it largely as a mismatch. The fact that the fight is on pay-per-view is a little disturbing for me.

It’s hard to know why Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn picked the 34-year-old recently knocked out Molina for Joshua’s opponent instead of someone good. All I can think of is Molina was selected was for the same reason that Breazeale was picked out for Joshua last time.

Eric Molina vs. Anthony Joshua likely for December 10

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua could be facing WBC champion Deontay Wilder’s leftovers in facing Eric Molina in his next fight on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. That’s the name that is being mentioned for Joshua.

Molina, 34, still hasn’t been officially named as Joshua’s next opponent, but he’s expected to. It won’t be the greatest news for the boxing world if that’s who Joshua winds up fighting. I hate to say it, but this going to be a step down for Joshua from his last fight against Dominic Breazeale.

Haye: Joshua will fight Eric Molina next

1-WILDERMOLINA-06132015-5214-2

By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye says IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will be fighting #8 WBC Eric Molina (25-4, 19 KOs) next in December. Haye says he’s pretty sure about Molina, 34, being the guy that will be facing Joshua next.

Haye says he’s disappointed at the news of Wladimir Klitschko suffering a calf injury and not being available to fight Joshua, because he felt that would have been Joshua’s coming out party if the fight had happened in December.

Price wants Parker, Breazeale or Molina for Joshua card

Image: Price wants Parker, Breazeale or Molina for Joshua card

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Price (20-3, 17 KOs) and his trainer Dave Coldwell are highly ambitious for the Anthony Joshua undercard on November 26 in wanting the likes of Joseph Parker, Dominic Breazeale (17-1, 15 KOs) or Eric Molina as an opponent.

Price, 33, is hoping that with a win over one of the above mentioned fighters, he’ll be able to get a title shot against Joshua. However, it might take a win over someone better than Breazeale or Molina for the 6’8” Price to get a shot against Joshua.

It’s not as if Breazeale and Molina have been getting great results with their careers lately. If Price could beat the young 24-year-old Joseph Parker on November 26, it would be a HUGE win for him, and obviously that would open the door for a title shot against Joshua.

David Price vs. Eric Molina possible for November

price1

By Scott Gilfoid: In a move that reeks of desperation, Kalle Sauerland, the promoter for #11 WBO heavyweight contender David Price (20-3, 17 KOs), intends on taking a HUGE risk with the fragile-chinned 33-year-old Price by putting him in with the talented American knockout artist Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) in November on the undercard of IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s next fight at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Sauerland figures that if the 6’8” Price wins that fight, he’ll be in the heavyweight mix for a title shot against Joshua. To be sure, the risk could in theory pay off for Price if he can get the hard hitting 6’4” Molina out of there before he gets his high powered offense cranked up. Once Molina’s offense is firing on all eight cylinders like it was in the 10th round of his last fight against former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek last April, I don’t see Price lasting long.
