Eric Molina wants David Price for October

By Scott Gilfoid: Former heavyweight world title challenger Eric “Drummer Boy” Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) has issued a challenge to #11 WBO, #12 IBF David Price (20-3, 17 KOs) to face him in October in a fight that he wants to take place in the UK or Poland.

Molina, 34, says he doesn’t want the fight to take place in his home country of the U.S, as he would prefer to do the fight in Europe if the 33-year-old Price and his promoters at Sauerland Events accept the offer.

It would be a big risk for the 6’8” Price, because he looked of shaky in his last fight against Vaclav Pejsar last May in Liverpool, UK. Price was nailed a number of times with clean right hands to the jaw by the little known 3rd tier fighter Pejsar. But what was most of troubling of all was the way Price retreated to the ropes and covered up after getting tagged by a big right hand from Pejsar.

Deontay Wilder working with Eric Molina for Arreola fight

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-01122015-9197

By Patrick McHugh: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) is working out with #8 IBF, #12 WBC contender Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) to get ready for his July 16 title defense against former two-time world title challenger Chris Arreola (36-4-1, 31 KOs) at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Wilder stopped Molina in the 9th round last year in June 2015 in Wilder’s first title defense of his WBC belt in Birmingham, Alabama.

Molina, 34, has since turned his career around with two consecutive knockout victories over Rodricka Ray and Tomasz Adamek. Molina’s 10th round stoppage win over former two-division world champion Adamek last April has vaulted Molina into the top 10 in the IBF’s rankings.

Eric Molina: I want Joshua – Martin winner

molina700By Dan Ambrose: Former world title challenger Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) is hoping to capitalize on his 10th round knockout victory from last Saturday night over former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (25-3, 19 KOs) to try and get a title shot against the winner of this Saturday’s fight between IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs).

Molina, 6’4”, feels that he has a good chance of facing the winner of the Martin-Joshua fight because of his spectacular one-punch knockout of the 39-year-old Adamek in their fight at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland. At the time of the stoppage, Molina was trailing by the scores of 88-83, 88-83, and 88-83.

Eric Molina stops Tomasz Adamek

By Jim Dower: In a surprise upset, 33-year-old former world title challenger Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) used his youth and impressive punching power to knockout former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (50-5, 30 KOs) in the 10th round of a scheduled 12 round fight on Saturday night to capture the vacant IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight title at the Tauron Arena in, Krakow, Poland.

Molina appeared to be trailing at the time in the 10th round when he landed a big right hand to the head of Adamek that sent the 39-year-old Polish fighter down on the canvas on his back. A badly hurt Adamek was able to get up at the count of nine, but the referee stopped the fight when he saw how hurt Adamek was at the time.

Tomasz Adamek vs. Eric Molina tonight

adamek54By Dan Ambrose: 39-year-old former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (50-4, 30 KOs) will be trying to keep his struggling career alive tonight in his scheduled 12 round fight against former world title challenger Eric Molina (24-3, 18 KOs) at the Tauron Arena (previously Krakow Arena), Krakow, Poland. There’s an excellent chance that Adamek will lose this fight if Molina remembers to throw punches, and doesn’t fight in a timid manner like he did against Deontay Wilder last year.

Adamek, #8 WBC, has lost two out of his last three fights in losses to Vyacheslav Glazkov and Artur Szpilka. The only win Adamek has gotten in the last two years was against 48-year-old Przemyslaw Saleta last September.

Surprisingly, the World Boxing Council doesn’t seem to mind that Adamek’s career is imploding because they still have him ranked in their top 10 despite him losing two out of his last three fights. Adamek’s last true victory over a quality opponent was four years ago when he beat Steve Cunningham and Eddie Chambers by controversial decisions.

Many boxing fans that saw those two fights had Adamek losing both of them. I still remember those fights, and I also thought Adamek deserved to lose both. To go back to Adamek’s last uncontroversial win over a quality opponent, you have to go all the way back to 2010, when he beat an injured Chris Arreola by a 12 round majority decision.

Tomasz Adamek faces Eric Molina in April 2 in Poland

adamek54(Photo Credit: Rich Graessle/Main Events) By Dan Ambrose: 39-year-old former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (50-4, 30 KOs) will be trying to turn his sagging career around on April 2 when he faces 33-year-old former world title challenger Eric Molina (24-3, 18 KOs) in a scheduled 12 round fight at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland. Adamek and Molina will be fighting for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight title. That’s a big step down for Adamek, who has become accustomed to fighting for major belts in his long 17-year-old pro career.

Adamek could really stand to get a victory right now, as he’s lost two out of his last three fights in defeats to Vyacheslav Glazkov and Artur Szpilka. There’s no shame in losing to those guys because those are both top 10 heavyweight contenders, but the fact that Adamek was beaten by both guys tells you were he’s at in the division right now in terms of talent.

Molina gave WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder a tough time in their fight last year in June of 2015 before getting stoppage in the 9th. At one point in the fight, Molina staggered Wilder with a big left hook to the head. Deontay was able to come back and dominate the action in getting knock downs in the 4th, 5th and 9th rounds. Molina did show good power when he was getting his shots off, and he’s got the kind of power that would give anyone problems in the division.

Szpilka sparring with Eric Molina to get ready for Wilder

wilder45552222By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) has been sparring with former world title challenger Eric Molina (24-3, 18 KOs) to get ready for a title shot of his own against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) on January 16th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Molina, 33, was stopped in the 9th round by Deontay last year in June in a fight that took place in Birmingham, Alabama. Molina had his moments in the fight in twice stunning Wilder with big shots. However, Wilder took over the fight completely by the 6th round and never looked back.

Molina should have taken advantage of the fact that Wilder rarely used his right hand in the fight due to him coming off of a fractured hand in his previous fight against Bermane Stiverne in January of this year. Molina fought too timidly, and was unable to take advantage of the one-armed Wilder.

“I have had some really good sparring with Molina. Both of our trainers are impressed by what I can do and they tell me that if I box in the same way [when I face Wilder] as I’m doing in training – I should overcome Wilder,” Szpilka said via skysports.com.

Did Deontay Wilder carry Eric Molina to the 9th on purpose?

1-WILDERvsMOLINA-06132015-4685By Scott Gilfoid: More and more boxing fans are starting to believe that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) purposefully carried his opponent Eric Molina (23-3, 17 KOs) to the 9th round before finally putting him out of his misery last Saturday night at the Bartow Arena, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

In looking at the internet boxing chat rooms and message forums, a lot of fans think that the 6’7” Wilder chose to keep Molina around for the nine rounds in order to make the fight competitive rather than just going out there and blasting him out immediately like he capable of doing.

Deontay Wilder looking forward to Alexander Povetkin fight

Povetkin, 35, recently defeated the tough as nails Mike Perez by a 1st round knockout victory in their WBC heavyweight eliminator bout last May to set up his shot aginst Wilder.

Wilder destroys Molina

wilder5By Jim Dower: In a very poor performance, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) looked really sloppy, uncoordinated and unskilled in stopping #9 WBC Eric Molina (23-3, 17 KOs) in the 9th round on Saturday night to retain his WBC title at the Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Wilder, 29, knocked Molina down four times in the fight.

Wilder put Molina down once in the 4th, twice in the 5th, and once in the 9th. The fight was halted in the 9th after Molina turned his back on Wilder after getting hit hard by a right hand. Wilder then dropped Molina with a chopping right to the head. Molina also turned his back to Wilder in the 5th for one of the knockdowns.
