Image: Burns-Tatli & McDonnell-Parodi added to Brook-Chaves cardBy Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion Ricky Burns (38-5-1, 12 KOs) will be facing European Boxing Union lightweight champion Edis Tatli (25-1, 8 KOs) for his EBU strap on October 24th on the undercard of the Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves card at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. The card will be televised on Sky Box Office along with Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury.

Another fight that has been added to the Brook-Rios card is EBU super bantamweight champion Gavin McDonnell (13-0-2, 4 KOs) defending his title against 28-year-old Jeremy Parodi (37-2-1, 9 KOs).

Abril defeats Edis Tatli

abril7By Dan Ambrose: WBA World lightweight champion Richard Abril (19-3-1, 8 KOs) put in a masterful performance in out-boxing previously undefeated #6 WBA Edis Tatli (23-1, 7 KOs) by a 12 round majority decision last Saturday night at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland. The final judges’ scores were 114-114, 116-112, and 117-111.

A more accurate score for the fight was 117-111, but even that score was far too kind because the 32-year-old Abril beat Tatli in a far more decisive manner than those scores would suggest.

Tatli fought well enough to deserve 1-2 rounds at best, because he was throwing wild shots and missing badly all night long. The only round where he appeared to connect with some of his crude punches was in the 6th, and he only connected with a few of the punches.
