Both guys have a lot to prove as neither are considered the true top of the division. Berto was beaten by Victor Ortiz last year in April in a fight in which Berto was knocked down twice in losing by a 12 round decision.

Berto too fast and too powerful for Robert Guerrero

Image: Berto too fast and too powerful for Robert GuerreroBy Dan Anbrose: Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) was one of the best fighters in boxing when he fought at featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight. With the exception of a small handful of fighters in those weight classes, Guerrero was damn near unbeatable. However, he’s now let his ambition drive him forward to the welterweight division and he’s hardly unbeatable now or even close to that.

He’s picked up the interim WBC welterweight title by beating a very flawed but powerful Selcuk Aydin last July, but that might be about the extent of what Guerrero can do at this weight unless he targets WBA paper champion Paulie Malignaggi before Ricky Hatton gets to him. But Guerrero is about to be shown why it’s not a good idea to skip weight classes to move in weight when you don’t have the power or the speed to be successful at that. Guerrero will be fighting former IBF/WBA welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) next month on November 24th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, in Ontario, California.

Robert Guerrero: A win over Andre Berto will get me a Mega fight

Image: Robert Guerrero: A win over Andre Berto will get me a Mega fightBy Dan Ambrose: WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) sees himself only one fight away from a mega fight against one of the top fighters in boxing, such as Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao or Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. However, it’s not going to be easy for the 29-year-old Guerrero because he’s got to beat former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) on November 24th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, in Ontario, California, USA.

Guerrero said “If you saw the fight with [Selcuk] Adyin. I feel that Aydin is a bigger puncher than Andre Berto. It’s about being in great shape. You find out in the ring whether you can take a punch or not. We’ll find out and he’s going to find out.

Robert Guerrero gets the big fight he’s been looking for against Andre Berto

Image: Robert Guerrero gets the big fight he's been looking for against Andre BertoBy Allan Fox: Former two division world champion and current WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) has been itching for a long time to get a huge fight that would catch the boxing public’s imagination and it looks like he’s finally achieved his goal in facing Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) on November 24th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California, USA.

Guerrero has been calling out Floyd Mayweater Jr. since Guerrero was fighting at lightweight, and no one ever took him seriously because he was two divisions below Floyd. Now Guerrero is at the same weight and could find himself in consideration for that fight if he only he can beat Berto somehow.

Guerrero: I’l change gears to beat Andre Berto

Image: Guerrero: I'l change gears to beat Andre BertoBy Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) will be taking a big step up in class in facing former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) next on HBO at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, in Ontario, California, US. The 29-year-old Guerrero thinks he has the skills to compete with Berto and beat him by decision. Guerrero isn’t thinking knockout. He’s smart enough to realize that his power hasn’t carried up with him when he moved up from lightweight recently.

Guerrero said to the LA Times “He’s [Berto] slick and can change the fight with one punch, so I have to be prepared. I’ll be changing gears, changing styles. I can beat him in 12 rounds.”

Robert Guerrero vs. Andre Berto on November 24th on HBO

Image: Robert Guerrero vs. Andre Berto on November 24th on HBOBy Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) will be facing interim WBC welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) on November 24th on HBO, according to RingTV. Guerrero and Berto have reportedly agreed to the fight as of today.

This may not be the huge fight that the 29-year-old Guerrero was looking for when he moved up two divisions from the lightweight division to pick up the interim World Boxing Council welterweight title last July with an unimpressive 12 round decision win over Selcuk Aydin, but it’s probably the best that Guerrero can hope for.
