With the 30-year-old Peter’s right eye nearly closed from the punishment he had absorbed in the fight, Wladimir unloaded with a blizzard of punches to put Peter down in the 10th round. Referee Roberto Byrd then stepped in and halted the bout at 1:22 of the 10th round.

Klitschko stops Peter!

Image: Klitschko stops Peter!By Tom Hatheway: Ring Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko dominated Sam Peter via 10th round TKO in a rematch from 2005. He also defended his IBF, IBO, and WBO titles.

The bout was basically a mismatch; with the champ in control all of the way. In the end Peter’s eyes were heavily swollen, and is now 0-3 against the brothers from Ukraine. The score here was 90-81. Klitschko, 246 is now 55-3 (49), while Peter, 241 drops to 34-4 (27).

Who is up next this year for Wladimir, 34? Possibly Adamek or Valuev. They are the only possible choices unless he wants to wait until next year for Haye or Povetkin who have bouts already lined up for this fall.

Klitschko-Peter: Look for Wladimir to get brutally knocked out

Image: Klitschko-Peter: Look for Wladimir to get brutally knocked outBy Dave Lahr: After all these years, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitscchko (54-3, 48 KO’s) will finally be facing a puncher when he steps in the ring tonight against former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s) at the Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. It’s been five years since Peter last fought Wladimir and nearly knocked him out. Tonight, Peter will finish the business that he started in their fight in 2005. In that fight, Wladimir was about as close as you can come to being knocked out without it being called on, when he was knocked down in the 10th and was staggering around the ring like a bird that could no longer fly.

Peter: “I hope he [Wladimir] comes to fight and not wrestle”

It only partially worked, as Peter was still able to pry Wladimir off of him long enough to knock him down three times in the fight. This time, Peter is really hoping that Wladimir, now the IBF/WBO heavyweight champion, doesn’t choose to clinch and wrestle him all night long like last time.

Weigh-in: Klitschko 246, Peter 241

Image: Weigh-in: Klitschko 246, Peter 241Photo credit: KMG/Dmitriy Abramov – By Jim Dower: At today’s weigh-in for Saturday’s clash between IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) and Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s), the 34-year-old Klitschko came in at 246 at the scales. Peter, 30, weighed in at a cut up 241, which is four pounds heavier than in his last fight against Nagy Aguilera in March. However, Peter looks much more muscular than he was for that fight, so you have to figure that Peter has been working harder and putting on more size for his fight against the 6’6” Klitschko.

Peter’s manager thinks Wladimir is worried about this Saturday’s fight

Image: Peter’s manager thinks Wladimir is worried about this Saturday’s fightBy Dave Lahr: This Saturday night, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitsxchko (54-3, 48 KO’s) faces his most dangerous opponent in the past five years when he fights former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s) in a 12 round bout at the Commerzbank-Arena, in Frankfurt, Germany. Although the 34-year-old Klitschko has been acting uncharacteristically confident in the press conferences with Peter leading up to the fight, Peter’s manager Ivalylo Gotzev thinks Wladimir is trying to disguise his fear, saying “He’s definitely uptight. I’ve known Wladimir for 15 years and he’s starting to realize who will be in the other corner come Saturday night. That’s why he’s not himself this week. He’s already having cold and sweaty Nigerian Nightmares.”
